All residential home repairs. I work by myself, and have all the tools for all home repairs carried with me, so jobs are completed in a professional and timely manner! Forty years experience, gives the edge over less experienced contractors. I like the small jobs. Courteous, friendly, non smoker and I keep a clean work site, sometimes cleaner than when I started! Bonded and liability insured for you protection! I always answer my phone and show up on time!

"Hiring Tom (The Handyman Can Do) was just a horrible mistake. I made the decision to hire Tom because he presented himself as easy to work with and "guaranteed his work". We hired Tom to remodel an outdoor shed. It was taken down to the studs/foundation and built back up by Tom with a new roof, siding, electrical, drywall and insulation. The entire project took 8 months, about 6 months longer than we would have hoped for, but we were patient enough to work with his schedule. Upon completion of the work, the roof and base of the shed leaked water. Tom made one attempt to seal the area that was unsuccessful. Once I notified Tom that the leak still existed, his response was the "this shed was a problem from the get go" and "he did not know how to fix the leak, but if I had any ideas on how to fix the problem he would look at it when he could get to it". Frustration on our end set in, Tom would not guarantee his work and we will make the necessary repairs on our own. I strongly encourage anyone seeking handyman services to stay far away from Tom Logan (The Handyman Can Do)."

Spark arresters do many wonderful things for your fireplace such as help keep sparks from exiting the system, keep rain out of the fireplace and don’t forget about keeping out animals. Spark arresters can also help with other problems like down drafts.Stage 3 glazed creosote removal: Glazed creosote is the most dangerous type of creosote and is also the most difficult to remove. Often the glazed creosote must first be modified using product like CRE-Away and then mechanically removed using a powered brush.Draft and smoking problems: There are hundreds of reasons why that a fireplace might smoke (just ask my mom.) With years of experience there’s a good chance that we can find your reason and fix it bringing your system back into great working shape. Crown Repair: The crown is the top section of the chimney. Crowns are most commonly made of mortar or concrete.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

A roof’s life span depends on the materials in use and on the quality of the work from the roofer. Most roofs will last anywhere from 25 to 50 years. Damage from storms or seeing signs of a bad roofing job could lead to a shorter life span, though.

Ideally, you shouldn’t pay your roofer upfront unless you’re special-ordering materials. However, anything between 10% and 15% of the project’s cost is reasonable to pay upfront. Avoid making a final payment until after the roof gets completed.

The best roof for added home value depends heavily on your area, including the quality and appeal of nearby homes, your climate, and the local market. A metal roof usually costs more than asphalt shingles, but you’ll also typically see a higher ROI. Consider neighborhood trends and norms, upfront costs, and curb appeal when deciding which roof is best for boosting home value.

Rain shouldn’t come in through your ridge vents unless your vents are damaged or the rain is accompanied by very high winds. Most ridge vents use flashing or baffling to keep out rain, snow, and debris. If your ridge vent isn’t baffled, rain is more likely to enter your attic, so ridge vents with baffles are a better choice in areas with regular rainfall.

The cost to replace a roof averages around $9,200, and most people pay between $6,000 and $15,000. The size of your roof plays a major role in the total cost, but the most significant factor is whether you need new shingles placed over your old roof or a full replacement. The former is possible until you have three layers of roofing on your home, and it’s more affordable. A full replacement involves ripping off old layers of shingles, sometimes repairing the sheathing, and then laying down a new roof, which is the most expensive project.
