"LCR was great and I am already planning to hire them again to roof another building. This job involved stripping off the old layers of roofing, checking the roof deck for soundness, installing new ice/water shield and flashing and new underlayment per our demanding county codes, and then applying new architectural shingles. Evelyn was very helpful dropping off shingle sample boards so we could find the right color, and then scheduling the job around COVID-caused uncertainties (supply chain issues and team member illnesses). Then Olin and his crew arrived and did a perfect job - including adding flashing where there should have been some but previously wasn't, and working around and under some tricky overhangs. The job ended up looking terrific, and they cleaned up thoroughly. Couldn't have been more pleased with this crew."

"After five days in the valley, we had a $300 water bill because one of our four irrigation stations went on the day we left and didn’t turn off. We’ve used Magic since 2004 and so called them to get an estimate on repairing it. As the system is 20 years old, we decided to replace all four stations. Ginger came out quickly to give us an estimate, and I was pleasantly pleased with the price, which I thought was very reasonable. They requested payment in advance, which we did. Technician Afraim came to do the repair. It was a pretty major deal and took him several hours. The workmanship was absolutely beautiful. We did have a problem. The next day, after cycling, one station would not turn off. It was not the station with the original problem. We had a new timer, so that was not the problem. The only way I could get the station to turn off, was to shut off the water entirely. They sent Afraim back again. He did whatever he did, tested the system, and left. But on the next scheduled cycle, the problem persisted again, I had to shut the system down to get it to stop. Afraim came back a third time, but the problem still persisted. It was clear at this point that magic management thought we were making this all up.(WHY would ANYONE do this?) The tech would do his tweak, test by turning the timer on and off, and everything would seem to be OK, but it wasn’t, because when it went through a cycle, it simply would not turn off. After the third visit, after he left, I ran it through a cycle. It didn’t turn off, and I called magic, spoke with Sean, and suggested he come back himself and see what was going on. He and the tech came and I believe replaced the valve entirely and everything finally worked! So at the end, we got what we wanted at a good price. Magic management needlessly made the process of resolving this a bit unpleasant, but finally got it done."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

That depends on the size of your snow blower and how efficiently it uses fuel. Most snow blowers will last between 1 and 2 hours on a full tank of gas. Larger blowers tend to use fuel more quickly and need refilling more often.

Keep in mind, the average snow blowing project for a home driveway takes around 30 minutes. Large driveways and yards will take around an hour. A full tank of gas should be more than enough for snow removal, although the height of the snowfall will have an effect, too.

You should check with your insurance provider, but generally, ice dam removal is not covered by insurance, as it’s considered a preventable issue. However, damage from ice dams may be covered by your policy, including roof collapses. In the case of leaks, your belongings may or may not be covered. If you can’t find specific information on ice dam removal in your policy, give the insurance company a call and find out.

It is a bad idea to try to walk on a roof with snow on it. In fact, you should stay off your roof all year long, even when it is dry and sunny outside. There are too many things that can go wrong, and one misstep can cause serious injury or even death.

Magnesium chloride is a relatively gentle ice melt product and, if used correctly, should not cause much damage to your property. The most important thing is to be sure you apply it according to the manufacturer’s instructions and don’t use too much.

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.
