"I hired David to help me get a rental home ready for sale. The home looked horrible. I hired him to do some painting, weeding, cutting, and waste and trash removal. Wow!! When he and his crew were finished, it looked like a totally different place! I found this company to be professional, reasonable, quick and efficient. I also found them to be very trustworthy. I would definitely hire David and his crew again!"

Small jobs welcome

"On 5/11/2026 A-State Junk Removal and Hauling came all the way from Searcy to give me a quote on some junk removal. He arrived on time, assessed what needed to be removed and we discussed prices. I did not have to haggle about price. The price was fair. The removal was very quick and efficient and I even talked about having him remove other items in the future. I’m extremely happy with the service that was provided and will do business with A-State Junk Removal And Holding again in the future"

"Kevin Overholt was amazing to work with. Very professional and very honest. We hired KO Excavation to create a firm load bearing base so we can move a mobile home onto our property. The final cost came in below his original bid because it took less gravel than originally thought. I feel most contractors would have charged us the whole amount but, Kevin adjusted the cost. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend them without hesitation. Job well done KO Excavation!"

Concrete Disposal questions, answered by experts

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.

If your garbage disposal powers up and you can hear it hum, but the arms inside aren’t moving, the problem might be a stubborn clog, a build-up of grease, or a jam of the impeller plate. To troubleshoot these, ensure your unit is off and disconnected from its power source before checking inside the drain or attempting to manually rotate the impeller arms or plate from the underside of the unit. A hex wrench can help.

If the cost of repairing a leaking garbage disposal is close to the cost of replacing the disposal, then fixing the unit might not make sense. When deciding if you should repair or replace your garbage disposal, consider the age of your garbage disposal, the cost of the repair, and whether your garbage disposal has had other problems recently to help you decide if the cost of repairing the leak is better than the cost of replacing the disposal.

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.
