"To the Ladies, If you're wondering what to get for your husband, who needs nothing, for Christmas, consider consulting a JLR Stump Santa for help. The gentleman who helped me was courteous, timely, and did an EXCELLENT job. Just get a red bow to put on the chips and your husband will be DELIGHTED...mine was!"

"OMG! Coming into a new community you normally get taken advantage of. Not the case with K and R. They went beyond their call of duty with the service they provided me. I am on a fixed income... Ryan and his wife saw a need ... my trees ! They could have possibly fallen on somebody, for safety to the new neighborhood, they cut my trees at a discounted rate because I am on a fixed income. Now if you are healthy and making money ... pay full price and know that your children will be safe in any neighborhood that Ryan cuts trees in."

"James and his crew are true professionals. While I originally hired him to clean out the gutters, I quickly realized that he could do so much more. He now takes care of our mowing , maintenance of our yard, cleanup of fall leaves, stump removal and all landscaping needs. He is great at working on a schedule and easy to contact.  All of his work is done efficiently and in a timely manner. 10/10 would recommend."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Trees aren't big fans of moving, and they do go into shock during a transplant. Although most carefully thought-out tree transplants see the tree recover from the shock just fine, there is always a risk of having an unsuccessful move. Proper preparation, timing, and diligent aftercare are crucial to minimize the risks when transplanting a tree.

You can use a felling ax to chop down a tree by following the same prep and steps as a chainsaw, but be prepared to use some muscle. For trees bigger than 7 inches in diameter, it can take some time and serious strength to cut down a tree using just an ax.

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.

Hiring an arborist or tree surgeon is usually more expensive than a standard tree company, but it is often worth the investment. Arborists have education and certifications that standard companies typically lack, leading to a more professional, expert-level service. Their expertise is particularly valuable for diseased or infested trees, as they can ensure safer removal and help prevent the issue from spreading. Additionally, arborists may be necessary for work near power lines, as uncertified companies are often not permitted to service these trees. If your goal is to preserve the health of your trees, an arborist is the best choice. Their services, such as stump grinding, are also performed with greater expertise to ensure a safe depth that won't cause your lawn to collapse over time.
