"I spoke with Jerry on Monday and he was at our house the next day. He found and repaired a leak in the kitchen, replaced the kitchen faucet, snaked and unclogged the spare bathroom shower drain, replaced the toilet guts, (and tightened the toilet's seal without having to ask him). He did all of this in a reasonable amount of time and for a very reasonable price. If we had any questions along the way, he had no problem explaining what he was doing. He and his wife were both very courteous. He even took time to discuss another project that we will be hiring him for in the near future! I am the type of person who does a lot of research before I hire someone. I can honestly say that I have not seen a negative review on Jerry or his company!"

"Chase helped advise me even with purchasing for my replacement water heater and other parts needed. He came after hours to replace my water heater, and even though he knew he would have to come back the next day to complete repairs, he still made sure I had hot water available until he could finish the job. He and Bryan went the extra mile to make sure everything was right, even building a platform to make the appliance more level. More recognized plumbers in the river valley have worked on my bathroom and not bothered to tell me anything was wrong with the flooring level. Would definitely recommend them and will positively hire them again!"

"Promptly showed up, gave me a run down on the problem, explained the solution and cost clearly. Very professional and down right friendly. A bathroom main was blocked, which was flushed out with a snake from the roof. Took less than 30 minutes from the time the price was quoted to the time my drains were running freely. Affordable. Highly recommend."

Toilets FAQs, answered by experts

Technically, you can put an elongated toilet seat on a round toilet, but it’s not a good idea. Elongated toilet seats are a few inches longer than round toilets, so they will hang over the front edge of your toilet, which isn’t appealing. Additionally, an unsupported toilet seat or portion of a toilet seat is more likely to crack and shift, which could result in injury to whoever uses the toilet. Always match your toilet seat style to your toilet, or replace the toilet entirely if you’re looking to switch styles.

There are several ways to save money on a bathroom remodel through proper planning and savvy design strategies. To reduce costs, consider the following:

  • Purchase your own materials: Buy your own bathroom fixtures, hardware, and other materials to avoid contractor upcharges and delivery fees.

  • Shop smart for big-ticket items: Save on pricey items like tiles and tubs by shopping sales and at discount stores.

  • Avoid major layout changes: Keep plumbing in its current location. Opt to replace fixtures rather than moving them to avoid significant renovation work.

  • Focus on high-impact, low-cost updates: Make affordable but impactful smaller changes, such as upgrading hardware, installing new lighting, and adding stylish but economical accessories.

  • DIY where possible: Handle easier parts of the remodel yourself, like painting or installing light fixtures, to save on labor costs.

  • Time your remodel strategically: Consider remodeling in the spring, which tends to be a lower-demand time of year and may result in lower costs.

The best way to stop your toilet bowl from sweating is to increase ventilation and get rid of the humidity in your bathroom. You can do this in a number of ways. Sometimes, cracking a window or running your exhaust fan is enough. You can also run an air conditioner or install a dehumidifier

Yes, you should caulk a toilet to the floor for several reasons. Bathrooms are constantly wet—and if water splashes out of your shower and collects on your floor, you don’t want it seeping underneath your toilet, where it could potentially cause damage. Plus, caulk adds stability and helps prevent your toilet from wobbling.

Yes, you’ll need to replace your toilet’s wax seal any time you move the toilet. This is because movement of the toilet will break the seal, rendering the remaining wax useless. Thankfully, replacing a wax seal is fairly easy, and the seal itself only costs $2 to $10 at most home improvement stores.

When replacing a wax seal you typically also have to replace the closet bolts that secure the toilet to the flange. These are usually about 2.5" - 3" long and have to be cut once the toilet is secure. Cutting them usually makes them too short to reuse.
