"Danny hung a storm door and will return later because he found a problem with water damage elsewhere, which he immediately notified me about and offered knowledgeable suggestions for repairs. He also repaired a sagging support above a garage door and repaired cracks in bricks."

I am a well rounded, seasoned family driven guy that is determined, knowledgeable, easily worked with, goal \ task oriented. That likes to work with my hands to do the things either people don't like to do or the things that they just can't do, for whatever reason. My job history would make most pull their hair out with frustration. My back ground converter of factory worker, U. S. N., lumber Mill, OTR, heavy and small equipment operator, managed two rock quarries, oil and gas tanker driver, various other driving types of jobs, shadow carpenter worker, and heavy and local tow truck driver. I currently have one lady who I help with all of her task that she needs to have done or that has happened and needs done quickly.

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.

It’s not a good idea to allow heavy rain to fall on your awning, as puddling can occur and overload the awning. Your awning should be able to handle a light rain, though you should allow it to dry out before retracting it or open it to dry as soon as the rain stops. As always, consult manufacturer guidelines for using and caring for your awning.

Awnings offer a variety of materials to choose from, each of which has its own benefits. Cotton is a lower-cost option that’s also more eco-friendly because it’s made from natural materials, while acrylic-coated polyester and vinyl offer better durability against harsh weather. Fiberglass and metal are also resilient to weather, although metal can be vulnerable to corrosion without protective sealant. Ultimately, you’ll need to consider your climate and your budget in deciding the best material for your awning.

Awnings can be a serious investment for homeowners, particularly if it features a motorized and retractable design. Protect the exterior of your home by choosing a reliable and reputable contractor. Do some research ahead of time to get an idea of the potential contractor’s strengths and weaknesses. Don’t hesitate to give them a call to discuss specifics.

Yes, you can install an awning yourself, and it can be an excellent DIY project with immediate benefits. This is most feasible for smaller, pre-assembled units. However, awnings are often heavy and awkward for one person to handle, so you should always have at least one helper. If you have difficulty lifting heavy objects, professional installation is recommended to ensure proper mounting and durability.
