"In 2024, I spent about $20,000 with PI Roofing on a new roof and fascia repair. Within six months an area where they replaced the fascia detached from my house. This spring my roof has a leak. During the quote phase, they told me they'd haul off an old TV antenna. (It is still here). After the job was finished there were roofing materials left in my driveway. (I had to call to get those picked up). When I signed this contract, my Dad made fun of me for spending so much. I thought it would be worth it because of the warranty. I was even excited about the promised roof checkup they provide free in the first year, but it turns out you will not get the free checkup unless you demand it. And the warranty doesn't cover all that much. I have dealt with some very nice people at this company and have avoided writing a negative review for quite some time, but the bottom line is I cannot recommend this company. I have to believe there are better roofing businesses in the area."

A good psi for a general-use pressure washer is 2,000 to 3,000 psi. Some surfaces will require a softer touch, such as a cedar deck, which should be washed at the lowest setting, but heavier-duty jobs like removing stubborn stains from your driveway will need pressure at the higher end.

It takes about 15 minutes per each side of an exterior house to apply detergent and 15 minutes to remove it, so you’ll need roughly two hours for the whole job. However, that length of time may decrease or increase depending on the size of your home, so always budget a little more than expected to ensure you don’t end up rushing to get it done.

Do not use bleach when pressure washing, either in the machine or on the driveway itself. Bleach in a power washer will corrode the seal and nozzles of the machine. Spraying bleach (whether out of the machine or on the driveway itself) blasts bleach into the air. Bleach can be highly dangerous if inhaled, and it can kill plants, flowers, and neighbors' animals that accidentally ingest it. 

No, pressure washing isn’t recommended for cartridge filters. The high pressure can damage the filter paper, and the gentler pressure from a regular garden hose will work to rinse the cartridge filter. If the cartridge is very dirty or has algae or mineral buildup, you can use a muriatic acid solution to soak the filter and remove the buildup.

The difference between pressure washing and power washing is the temperature of the water. With pressure washing, cool water from an outdoor spigot supplies water to the pressure washing machine. With a power washer, the cool water is heated inside the machine, which has a heating coil. The power washer sends out heated, pressurized water for a deeper clean.
