"Three guys showed up, which was a little puzzling for cleaning a dryer vent. The guys were all polite and professional. The work was finished satisfactorily and very quickly but I was surprised that the charge was $150 plus tax. The quote was $99 - $250, depending on the work required. They pulled our dryer away from the wall, cleaned out the vent, put the dryer back. So why did this little job cost more than $99?"

Jett-Seal Inc. uses Aeroseal technology to seal the ductwork from the inside out by using a UL tested and approved sealing material. It's clean and safe. Most homeowners are unaware that more than 80% of all U.S. homes have significant leakage in their duct systems, with up to 40% of conditioned air being lost through perforations, seams, and gaps in ductwork. Not sealing these leaks is like leaving your front door open all year long. Every time your heating or cooling system runs, treated (heated or cooled) air leaks out of the ductwork, and untreated air is pulled into your home. That's a lot of wasted money.

Air Duct Cleaning questions, answered by experts

If you’ve spotted a skunk or know that one of these furry creatures sprayed one of your family members, your answer is fairly obvious. However, a skunky smell in your house that isn’t coming from these critters may be a sign of a dangerous gas leak. If you suspect this, leave your home immediately and call emergency services. It could also be a build-up of dangerous gas in your home’s septic system or plumbing. Call a professional plumber near you to make an assessment.

Signs that you need your air ducts cleaned include a musty or stale smell when your HVAC is running, signs of mold or mildew near vents, higher energy bills with no major changes, dust on your vents, or an increase of pests in your home.

How often you change the filters in your return air vents typically depends on factors such as your indoor air quality, the type of filter used, and the specific needs of your HVAC system. Generally, checking your filters every 1-3 months is recommended. However, if you have pets or allergies or live in an area with high dust levels, more frequent replacements may be necessary. Regular filter changes ensure that your HVAC system operates efficiently, maintains good indoor air quality, and extends its lifespan.

Yes. Your air supply should be balanced. The return and supply ducts need to maintain that balance, and this only occurs because an equal amount of air should be entering and leaving your HVAC system. Changes in pressure, extreme weather, and blocking vents with furniture or your stuff can make the air supply unbalanced and cause your home to get too cold or hot.

Yes, you can snake a roof vent. This is one of the best ways to clear a problematic clog in a plumbing vent. You can either snake the vent by climbing on the roof and sending the plumber’s snake or auger directly down the vent opening, or you can cut a hole in the vent from inside the attic and snake it from there.
