"They were the only ones who called me back and was able to come out today and fix my plumbing issues. Crew came out and was able to find out what the issue was, got my toilet unclogged and tub draining again."

"Back in January i was having a major back-up of water in my bathroom. By the time Nick Schmidt rushed over i had already turned off the toilet so that was okay for that, but then, it started backing up into my bathtub. I had dirt, small sticks, bugs it was really gross. Everythng i did including using my other toilet, just caused the water to continue rising. By the time Nick arrived, i was sitting by the tub, my heart was racing and i was in panic mode. It was about 3 inches from overflowing completely. The first thing Nick did when he arrived was head straight under the building to releve the pressure. And... all over the poor guy. He was a great sport about it. He cleaned out all drains and replaced some pipes under the building. I would absolutely use and recommend About Schmidt Plumbing for any major plumbing jobs. Thank you Nick. I should have posted this long ago."

"I'm excited to give a big shout-out to Jonathan from Sanders Service Company for his excellent work on my sewer line. Jonathan is a hard worker and a super honest and straightforward guy. He really loves what he does, and it shows in his top-notch work. What's cool about Jonathan is he's a straight shooter who tells it like it is, which I appreciate. He's passionate about plumbing repairs and goes the extra mile to fix things right. Jonathan's attention to detail is impressive, and he's all about getting the job done perfectly the first time. Thanks a bunch, Jonathan and the Sander Service team, for your fast response and fantastic service!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

The water in your toilet tank refills after each flush. So if you see dirty water in the bowl, you should check the tank to see if it’s coming from there. A dirty toilet tank can be the result of sediment in the water itself—-after all, the water will sit in the tank between flushes and can cause the interior to change into a dingy color. Faulty toilet components, like an old flapper, corroded tank lever or chain, or damaged seals, can also lead to dirty water as the materials break down inside the tank. You can clean the toilet tank or change out the old parts to give it a fresh start.

Small bathroom renovation costs don’t have to break the bank. A $5,000 budget is realistic, provided you're not adding luxurious fittings or making complex layout changes. Changing the layout is the most costly aspect of renovating a bathroom. So if you keep the layout, do some of the job DIY (within your skillset), and use relatively affordable fixtures and accessories, you should be able to stay within your budget.

Left unattended, a leaking toilet will eventually cause water damage or mold growth. If you’re a homeowner, you can file an insurance claim for water damage. However, that can be a long and tedious process; sometimes, your insurance company may not cover the damage. Therefore, it’s always best to fix any leak you notice right away if you can.

After flushing the toilet, you should have about half a tank full of water. While the exact amount of water you’ll have will vary, you want to make sure you have enough to cover the bottom of the bowl and enough to sit above the P-trap drain. While low water in your toilet bowl can indicate a problem, too much water can also be cause for concern.

A gurgling toilet usually doesn’t mean that your septic tank is full. If waste can’t drain into a full septic tank, you’ll see water and sewage backing up into your fixtures, but the air that causes gurgling is a result of poor venting. You are more likely to have a clog in your vent stack or a damaged air admittance valve.
