Salesman, Russell, asked me to give him my housekey. He told me that his guys could be trusted and they would do the work and return my key when the job was complete--I made it clear that I was staying in the house. On the evening of the first day, I noted they had taken a can of food that I left set out on my counter--I was disappointed, but thought, no big deal. I then noticed that they had taken a BRAND NEW boom box, purchased a couple of nights before, taken it out of the wrapping and the box lay on the floor and box was on the counter--I'm thinking, \"what the h***?\" On the second day that they were working, I noted they had removed most of the previous flooring and had layed the vinyl in the kitchen and one bedroom closet as requested. They were cutting tile when I arrived (was a little concerned to find the worker's 16 year-old son cutting the tile; However, my brother used to go to work with my dad and he turned out to be a h*** of a carpenter, so no red flag there). On the evening of the second day when I got home I noticed they had been drinking my bottled water--they could not just take a bottle or two, but they tore a hole in the opposite side of where bottles had previously been removed. On subsequent third and fourth visits, I could not really tell that any further work had been performed, other than the carpet was laid in the living room--carpet was layed adjacent to ungrouted tile (red flag--when you grout the tile, it was stain the almost WHITE carpet). Because I was told this was a 3-4 day job, I became concerned when the owner tried to get more money out of me for water-damaged sub-flooring that had already been called out in the contract--the fact that this was previously known by the owner, John Hutchinson, was made clear to me by both my real estate agent and an individual who had previously had an inspector out to the house. (This person was seriously looking to buy this piece of property prior to my bid being accepted--longer story, unrelated to this issue). After the sub-floor was repaired, as mentioned in the contract, the work slowed down considerably. On Saturday, August 27, the crew of John's carpets, minus the 16 year-old, showed up at my home in the morning and laid about a 36\" x 36\" are of tile (my tile is 18\"x 18\"). They were there from around 9:00am and left around 12:30pm. I had spent Friday evening at my daughter's and called Jim, John's employee, to see when he would be there (this call was around 8:30am Saturday, August 27) and that is how I know approximately when the arrived and they were wrapping up when I got there--sometime around 11:00 or 11:30am. My time was spent in the yard (had about 2 acres to mow). At around sunset I left to pick up a friend so she could see my place--I gave her a tour and took her back home. I got back to my home around 9:30am or so. I found that someone had been in my home--it was John's employee, JIM! NO REASON FOR THIS MAN TO BE IN MY HOME ON A SATURDAY NIGHT--HAD ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE AND NEVER TOLD ME WHY HE WAS IN MY HOME! I did not mention my concerns thinking they would be out in a day or two, no big deal. But after tools went missing when I arrived at my home Monday evening, I phoned Jim on his cell--it was around 8:30 pm--I have night class on Monday's. He denied ever touching any of my personal affects and I KNEW this to be a lie. Tuesday I went to John's carpets and told Kendra, the office manager, I did not want that crew back in my home. While I was telling her all of the things that happend over the course of the past week, John Hutchinson, the owner, walked into the room. I turned to him and started at the beginning. He told me that it was not possible and that he has never had a problem with his crew, they are goood workers, etc, etc, etc.... I then got excited and told him more, het leaned over, mocking me, and made a whiney voice as if to make fun of my plight! I was disgusted and angry at this point. I told him, never mind, I was done with him and his company and to get all of his stuff off my property! He then apologized and totally did a 180 on me and asked how he could make it right, pleading. I said, I don't want them back for any reason. John called Jim, the crew leader, right there as I stood next to him. John asked Jim where he was and John said, \"no, don't go to Ms. Cordova's, I have something for you at OBU.\" John's next reponse was, \"no, don't worry about that, she doesn't want you back, just come to the office first...No, she won't be here when you get here...No, come here now ...\" He turned to me and said, \"I told him you wouldn't be here when he got here.\" I told him that I wanted my house key and he told me that Jim's got it. I went straight home. Jim showed up a couple of minutes behind me attempting to gain access to my property. I parked my GMC across my extended driveway, driver door facing the entrance to my driveway. I told him to leave. Jim then attempted to go around me by cutting through my front lawn, I again told him to leave (cussing at this point) and told him he was tresspassing and I would call the police if he didn't leave immediatly! My phone rang about 15 minutes later, John's number showing on the caller i.d., but the caller hung up after the second ring. I was furious! Knowing that this man had a key to my home and he was wiling to attempt to go through me, I went to the local hardware store and bought the material and changed locks to all my exterior doors. John then sent Kendra, the office manager, to my home (his best attempt at good cop/bad cop) to tell me how sorry she and here family were and that they knew the guy, Jim, was a creep and how he is never allowed to enter her office without her boyfriend there and he is not allowed to even pass the front desk in the showroom (this was told to me by both Kendra and her son Russell). There is more, but is suffices to say, John's carpet is not a reputable company. I have spoken with 2 people who had used John's carpets and 1 person said they just didn't show up and the other said they gave a bid, but it went up substantially after they were well into the job. This was my experience--75% of my house was torn up before they attempted to tell me they found something they had not anticipated and this \"find\" was not a find at all. They knew it from the beginning and I had proof to back it up. Also, the employees knew that Jim was not a stable person and made even the sales staff uncomforable. Why would they give such a person the keys to the home of a single woman?!!!! Since things went so horribly wrong, I was advised to let them go and find someone else to finish the work. In ascertaining three additional qoutes for service, I discovered just what a poor job John's Carpets had performed. My ENTIRE tile job is out of line and my baseboards have all been grouted in. I MADE IT CLEAR that my home is a work in progress and that I needed to have the baseboards removed. They removed the boards in some places, but left it up in others--it would have been easier in the carpeted areas, but leaving them in where it is tiled leaves ripping out the floors as the only option for removal."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ar/arkadelphia/john%27s-carpets-floors-and-more-reviews-6342056.htm"},"position":4}]}

FAQs for concrete finishing projects in Arkadelphia, AR
Concrete repair costs range anywhere from about $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot to fill minor cracks, to about $6 to $14 per square foot to replace damaged concrete slabs. Repair costs vary widely depending on the size and type of work needed. For example, replacing 100 square feet of driveway will cost between $600 to $1,400, on average.
The average cost of stamped concrete is around $12 per square foot, but you might pay anywhere from $8 to $28 per square foot. The average 12-foot by 12-foot patio costs $1,730 on average. Your exact pricing will depend on the patio’s square footage, the condition of the area where you want to pour the concrete, the desired stamp pattern, concrete coloring, concrete grade, and local labor prices. Don’t forget to budget for extra costs like land preparation and additional concrete fortifications if necessary.
Depending on the cost to repair your driveway, it may be more cost effective to tear out and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The cost to repave a driveway ranges between $1,400 and $12,100, including removal of the old concrete. Contact a reputable concrete contractor for advice and an estimate. They may have a good reason for going with repairs or replacement after assessing your driveway. You may also have the option to resurface your driveway or pave over it without taking out the existing one.
It’s possible to create stamped concrete yourself, but we don’t recommend it and it’s often not cost-effective. It’s easy to mess up the pattern of a stamped concrete patio or walkway, leaving you with an unsightly home exterior rather than the elegant solution you wanted. Any mistakes made during the ground leveling and concrete pouring process will also increase the risk of cracks forming on your concrete. Additionally, buying enough stamps to get the pattern in before your concrete cures can cost as much as hiring a professional to do the work for you.
Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.
