"We had previously hired someone to waterproof our basement but it severely failed. Once AFS came and accessed the crawl space, they implemented a new system. Our crawl space is amazing now and the team Quadarrius, Jovian, and Dallas were professional, informative, and proficient! Colt my representative walked me through everything before during and after! I love this company and recommend their services to anyonet!"

"My crawlspace was wet, moldy, and just nasty. The insulation was soaking wet and it smelled awful. I called five different companies to come out and give me quotes on what they thought needed to be done. I had quotes all over the board ranging from $7,000 all the way up to $48,000. Southern dry was not the cheapest but no where near the most expensive. I decided to use them because Kevin the sales associate I used fully explained the process and broke down each step to where I could understand what was going to be accomplished and what materials would be used. They were even willing to accommodate my special request of adding an extra door to have access under my porch. The installation team, Cha-Chi, Michael, and Ventura were absolutely outstanding. They communicated well and made me fully aware when each step of the process would be taking place. They also always arrived on time and made sure to clean up any trash after each day of work. All in all, SouthernDry is a top notch company with top notch employees to match, would recommend them to anyone."

"In August 2012 this company installed four supports in the crawl space of a 100 year old home. This was necessary to replace support lost when the fireplaces were removed. We had them come back this year, May 2013, to install steel posts on the first floor directly above the previously installed supports. The steel posts carried the additional support upward and fixed the support of a header that was previously installed incorrectly by someone else. Besides fixing the supports for the header, they also repositioned it and beefed it up. This company works with you to come up with the best solution without going overboard. They don't try to oversell you, listen to what the homeowner wants, and work within your budget. This home has been gutted and is a work in progress. They are willing to break things down into smaller tasks and work with you. Ken Pohlman, the salesman and estimator for our area is great to work with. We will definitely be having them do more work as our budget allows. We have worked with two different crews and both were excellent. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced. We didn't realize we could request a crew but will do so in the future. I don't remember the names of the first crew but this crew was Steve Johnson and Matt Pierce. We will request them next time.

"The HUGE oak tree in our backyard fell over hitting the top and side of our house. Causing damage to the roof and ripping apart the front and side of the roof and fascia. I called three contractors the next morning and the only one to show up was Klein and Son Construction. Make a note that Mr. Klein was at my house with in 30 minutes from the call. Mr. Klein could tell that my husband and I were somewhat lost as to what to do next. Being this was our first natural disaster and having to file through our homeowners insurance. Mr. Klein took over the whole operation. After I made the decision to use Klein and Son Construction, all I had to do was sit back and watch my home repairs. Replacement included a new outside air unit that was crushed my the tree. Mr. Klein had a new unit installed and ready for use just two days after the tree crushed it. Mr. Klein made sure the tree removal company had removed any and all trees that could cause any damage in the future. Along with my yard being cleaned and firewood cut for next winter. Mr. Klein made sure our home was looking better than before the tree hit. They did so many extras for us, for example, painting extra areas of the house that were not included on the invoice. And fixing a hole in the fascia that was caused years before, at no extra charge. Not sure if this is a record or not, it is in my book. 4 days is all it took for complete removal of all trees, the new air unit installed, and all the construction on our home. Our home looks better than it ever has. So thank you Klein and Son Construction for taking such good care of our home! The work you did is perfect! Please take good care of my mother-in law when I refer you to her!"

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

There's a long list of benefits of adding a storm door to your home, making the minimal cost, difficulty, and time commitment of installation well worth it. It protects your home from rain, wind, and show, improves your energy efficiency, allows you to save money on electric bills, offers great ventilation, and deters break-ins.

The time to install a storm door varies based on who is doing the work and the complexity of the job. Professional installation typically takes a few hours, often between 1 to 2 hours, ensuring a perfect fit. For a DIY project with a standard, pre-hung storm door, you can expect it to take about 3 to 5 hours. However, if the door opening needs to be expanded or significant frame adjustments are required, the installation could take more than a day, in which case hiring a professional is recommended.

If you know the damage a hurricane can cause, you know how essential it is to protect your home. Getting ready for hurricane season can go beyond roofing reinforcement and extend to other external entry points where water and wind could damage your home. You may want to install hurricane window film to protect windows and glass doors or invest in storm windows. Storm windows cost an average of $12,000 and offer impact-resistant window surfaces with a better chance of fending off high winds.

Yes, installing or replacing a storm door is a manageable DIY project, especially for those with experience replacing regular doors. Many modern storm doors feature simple, pre-hung designs and come with the necessary hardware, making installation more convenient. With basic tools, a DIY installation is possible, though professional services can ensure proper alignment and weatherproofing. On average, installing a pre-hung storm door takes about four hours.

Each has its use, depending on the scenario. Security doors are primarily intended to keep people out of the home, while storm doors are used to protect the home from extreme weather. Both tend to be made from heavy-duty metal and may include glass panels to allow light to enter the home. Storm doors can feature mesh screens, just like screen doors, to allow for increased ventilation and to keep out pests. Security doors rarely, if ever, have mesh screens.
