"Outstanding job! I was totally impressed by the efficiency of their six-man crew while cutting down two trees. Both the large hickory and huge pine had the potential to damage my house if falling during a storm. They both required a narrow pathway for felling and were cut down spot-on. The job was very difficult to begin with, because of the proximity to my home, but compounded by the 95 plus degree temperatures and high humidity. The crew worked extremely well together, and safely completed the job. The entire site was completely cleared of all debris, and logs and limbs were stacked exactly where I wanted. I intend to use Molina's Tree Service for any future tree removals and will highly recommend them to friends and neighbors for tree work they may need. Thank you for a job well-done!"

"Outstanding experience! They were professional and very reasonably priced. They completed a huge project in a timely fashion. The oak tree they took care of was big enough that 3 adults couldn’t reach around it."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit.

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy. The goal of killing and drying out a tree stump is to prevent that from happening, as well as make the stump easier to completely remove.

Generally, avoid trimming trees in the summer (with the exception of pruning fruit trees as needed). Trees use a lot of energy in the summer, most of which is relegated to new growth. If you chop it too early, you could stunt the next season's growth. Again, when in doubt, do some research based on the specific tree type.

A tree can split because of high winds, a change in temperature, or from an infestation or tree disease. All of these factors can overlap, making a single cause difficult to pinpoint. While winter storms are some of the most common causes for a tree to split, it can also happen because of termites or rot.

There are several signs that may indicate a tree needs to be cut down. These include visible damage to the trunk or branches, a hollow trunk, extensive storm damage, or a significant lean to one side. Other warning signs are pest infestations or the tree growing too close to a house, power lines, or other structures. It is best to hire a professional arborist to inspect the tree, as they can determine if it can be saved or if removal is necessary.
