"The house had not been lived in since 2002; I purchased the house and had only seen pictures on Trulia. My sister had gone to take a look before I bought the house but did an "overview" only. I will move in in August; my sister went to open the door for Brittany; she said she cleaned and cleaned - even the walls that had pollen all over them (which you could not see on the photos). My sister says that I must give Brittany a tip because she went above and beyond. I can't wait to meet her myself. BTW, the shower, not in any picture of the house for sale, was beyond awful - so dirty; as I said no one lived there since 2002 and it needed the most cleaning; Brittany tackled it as a professional - even when my sister sent her a photo. A-1 Service from So. Belle Cleaning. I WILL be using them again!!!"

"We used Ms Marilyn’s Cleaning Service after another company did not show up to do a move out clean of our house. We are grateful she was able to come on such short notice, but we had a few issues with her services. First, we were told she would arrive between 3-3:30, but she did not show up until 4. Second, she used a bleach rag on our painted front door, as well as a closet door, so some of the paint is now coming off. I was disappointed a professional cleaner would use bleach on a painted door, as it seems like common sense to not use bleach on such a surface. She did not offer to pay for damages or give us a discount on her services. Third, when we arrived home, there were several areas that were still dusty or needed attention. I expected a professional cleaning surface to have a specific check list and to pay close attention to details. Overall, I’m grateful for Ms Marilyn coming on such short notice, and the house is much cleaner than before. However, we’re disappointed she was not more professional, careful, and thorough with her services. We were not impressed and would not recommend her services."

Range Hoods questions, answered by experts

A range hood is an exhaust fan for your kitchen, and several types and styles exist. They are meant to remove grease, moisture, and fumes from your stove. Although some models filter and recirculate the air, the most effective ones remove the air through a duct that’s vented to the outdoors.

A higher CFM will make the price of your range hood more expensive. It can be challenging to speculate how much the CFM rating affects price, but ductless range hoods—that don’t need as high of a CFM as ducted range hoods—are less expensive than their alternative. On average, ductless hoods cost between $100 and $300, while ducted hoods can cost as much as $1,000.

Neglected maintenance can lead to odors, fire hazards, impaired airflow, and reduced range and hood operation efficiency.

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.

You should contact a local range hood installation professional to install your range hood and do the ductwork. Prices range from $50 to $100 per hour, with the total number of hours required varying based on the project complexity. Simple installations might take an hour or two, while more complicated ones can take four hours or more.
