"Bruce did a great job installing a ceiling fan and replacing two other ceiling fans. He pointed out some really old boxes and had to go in the attic to attach them. He also installed a new ceiling light in the dining room and moved a ceiling light. Bruce was super at cleaning up after each job. Bruce will be my go to for any other handyman jobs I need in the future."

"Jeff is our new Go To Guy for all of our concrete and construction needs! He is very talented and extremely knowledgeable in the concrete business, he is very easy to work with as well as very HONEST, Fast and Hardworking! We hired Jeff to install an ADA compliant concrete handicap ramp from our driveway to the front door and expand our current drive way to accommodate a vehicle needing additional room for a disabled person. When planning this project with Jeff our biggest must haves were that the ramp needed to not â lookâ like a typical handicap ramp, the ramp must have a curve in it, it must have planters on both sides of the project must have access for future water and electrical supply lines. Not only did Jeff hit all the marks, his customer service focused attitude and friendly deminer made it possible to make changes to the scope of the project as work was being performed. Jeffâ s craftmanship and technical knowledge were key during the entire project! From the very beginning, Jeffâ s insight helped us to make great choices during the planning phase of the project that ended up reducing the cost of the project. I have been in construction for many years, but now I am not able to do all of the heavy work, especially for a project of this magnitude - I can attest to Jeffâ s amazing talent and construction skills. His work is square and level (I know because I followed him around with a measuring tape, a level and my square and I quickly saw that Jeff does not cut corners, nor does he allow his workers to cut corners; he gives you what you pay for and a whole lot more. When Jeff was completed with the project, we were absolutely satisfied with the new look and have had compliments from neighbors and friends. The ramp is dead on accurate and fully ADA compliant and most of all it doesnâ t look like a handicap ramp â it looks like a pathway!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, fire extinguishers eventually expire. However, the good news is that a properly stored fire extinguisher can last a decade or longer. They don’t have an expiration date on the canister, but you can check the manufacturing date on the “UL” nameplate near the classification information. Maintenance will also give your fire extinguisher longevity. Check the gauge at the top of the extinguisher every month. You'll want to make sure the gauge needle is in the green section, and if a hose or nozzle has been used or damaged, you need to replace it.

DIY smoke detectors are possible, but professional installation ensures compliance with fire codes and optimal safety.

If a light switch is off, it’s very unlikely to cause a fire. For a fire to start, the switch has to be on, activating an electrical current, and the wiring must be faulty. However, the malfunctioning light switch could cause an intermittent current to move across the electrical wire. This issue could become a fire hazard with another device connected to the wire. You should replace the bad light switch as soon as you notice it or call an electrician.

Depending on who’s doing the estimating, about 22,000 to 25,000 chimney fires happen each year in the United States. Given the fact that millions of Americans have fireplaces (and chimneys), that means chimney fires aren’t exactly common—but they’re not rare, either. Since they’re so dangerous, it’s important to take precautions to prevent them.

A chimney requires both a cover and a cap, but these parts often get confused with one another. A chimney cover seals the top of the chimney around the flue pipe to prevent water from entering the chimney. A chimney cap is a piece that sits above the flue to prevent animals, debris, and water from entering the flue.
