Adam Elliott is an ISA Certified Arborist who offers services such as large tree removal, tree pruning, stump grinding, tree cabling, fertilization, hazard assessments and much more! ACE Tree owns 38 ton crane for safe and efficient tree removal.

"I was a longtime and happy Ace customer. I agreed to pay $700 for having a limb cut down, cut up and all of the wood debris hauled away. That was our agreement. They cut the limb down. In the process, they busted my retaining wall and flower box/garden. It was discovered that a wasp nest had been disturbed and we were instructed to get them taken care of, then they would be back to finish the job and repair the retaining wall. We had the wasps taken care of the next day and called Ace Tree Service to let them know that we were ready for them to come back. We had numerous conversations and exchanged emails. There were many instances when we were told that someone was coming but nobody ever showed up. The large limb was left in the yard. I cut it up and hauled it away myself. I repaired the wall myself. I gave them multiple opportunities to come out and finish the job, but after several attempts and promises of “we’ll get someone other this week” I gave up and did myself. This was done back in July. I didn’t hear anything from Ace Tree for 3 months, but then suddenly they started hounding me for a “past due” invoice for a job they never completed."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s worth aerating a lawn. Even the most diligent mowing, watering, and fertilizing schedule is not enough if the roots are not able to benefit from the care and nutrients you’re giving them. Even a lawn that’s already healthy can benefit from aeration because the more air that circulates around the roots, the stronger and healthier it will grow.

While you may see some germination by simply tossing a handful of new seeds on a lawn, you'll have more success by following the proper reseeding or overseeding process step-by-step. Without properly tilling, mowing, amending the soil, and watering your lawn, the new seed could blow away or simply fail to take root.

Speeding up grass seed germination is possible, but it requires quite a bit of extra work and commitment. Keeping the soil moist is key, but here are a few other tried-and-true methods for growing your new grass as quickly as possible:

  • Mist grass up to eight times per day to keep the soil moist.

  • Purchase a moisture-retaining seed coating for your grass seeds.

  • Amend soil that is compacted or in the wrong pH range.

  • Choose the right grass seed for your area’s climate and soil conditions.

  • Avoid planting on windy days or during periods of extreme rain or drought.

Not only are lawn depressions unsightly, they also cause your yard to be uneven and have divots, which can be a tripping hazard. Lawn depressions also make mowing more difficult and can potentially cause damage to your mower.

One of the most effective ways to improve lawn absorption is to learn how to aerate your lawn. This is a process where you poke tiny holes all throughout it to break up tough soil and sediment, creating pathways for sunlight, water, air, and nutrients to seep into the plant’s roots. In turn, it promotes stronger root systems, making your lawn or plants less susceptible to pests and disease. Ideally, you’ll want to aerate your lawn at least once per year during the growing season—think late summer to early fall.
