Small jobs welcome

"My project was to restain my new deck after a botched job done by another contractor. Jose showed up with his crew exactly when he said he would, did the job quickly and the deck looks great - he helped me make the best of a bad situation (I wanted semi-transparent but the stain previously applied was done so unevenly, there was no way to apply more to fix it. Jose recommended solid stain, and I'm much happier with a uniform color than the mess I had before!) Would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others."

"After having had a terrible experience with another painter, we decided to contact Color World through Angi. From our initial contact, we were very pleased with the promptness and professionalism of Gary Sheffer and his company. They did our job exactly as requested at a very reasonable price. Gary’s crew was polite, efficient and easy to work with. Best of all, they completed the job in only three days. We could not be happier with Color World Painting. Highly recommend!"

"I worked with Bryant who kept me informed every step of the way. The crew was amazing and completed the work in 4 days, 2 days ahead of schedule. Quality of the work is unquestionable, and the paint crew were courteous and professional. I can’t say enough to convey how happy I am, no buyer’s remorse for me, my biggest fear going in. So much value for the money and place looks brand new. Thank you Bryant and crew!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.

The need for a topcoat on a painted deck depends on various factors, primarily the type of paint used and your desired level of protection. Many premium deck paint formulations are self-sealing, eliminating the necessity for an additional topcoat. These paints often have built-in additives that substantially protect against moisture, UV rays, and everyday wear and tear.

Apply a wood stain or sealant to properly maintain a wood deck railing and keep it looking new. Sealants protect wood from moisture and weathering. Regularly inspect the railing for loose screws, damaged balusters, and other signs of wear to make timely repairs. Routinely clean the railing using mild soap, water, and a soft bristle brush.

The longevity of paint on wood depends on factors like the quality of the paint, surface preparation, exposure to elements, and maintenance. Exterior paint on wood surfaces can last 5 to 15 years or more with proper care and maintenance. Interior paint tends to have a longer life span, often 10 years or more. Regular cleaning, touch-ups, and addressing any issues like peeling or cracking can extend the life of the paint.
