"Justin, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. I put online that we needed our roof replaced, and Justin called within 10 minutes and gave us a very reasonable bid in two days. A week later we had a beautiful new roof. His crew was fantastic as they worked on our very steep and difficult roof. Thank you Heritage Roofing & Construction in Millbrook, AL."

PennyEarned, LLC/Concrete Techologies is a 30+ year old, family owned business. We have offered various services over the past years but out main focus is "outdoor areas" We create living spaces out doors. Beautiful stamped concrete patios with meandering boarders to give the regal appearance of simulated stone surfaces. We also offer pavers to add variety. Outdoor kitchen units coordinated with fireplaces and fire pits. Water features and sandstone topped tables. We do much retrofit and redesign of existing swimming pools. We reconstruct outdated pool areas and make repairs to the pools themselves. We replace aged driveways with new, better reinforced and jointed ones that will endure for much longer than their predecessors. Most of all, everything we do, we do to the best of our ability. We enjoy our work and our creations and we long to work with you on your project.

We work with the outer foundation walls, basement walls & slabs, concrete slabs, patios, porches and driveways. Financing Available. Located at 137 County Rd 902, Calera, AL 35040. Mailing address: P.O. Box 1050, Calera, AL 35040 Areas served: We serve the entire state of Alabama including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, Selma, Dothan, Auburn, Huntsville

"This was a very extensive project that I spent months researching, hired an engineer for his professional guidance, and accepted bids from four companies. Two of the other companies were cheaper but proposed to use synthetic foam materials, which don't have a long enough track record for my comfort. Once the job started, the crews worked with great diligence, and despite the numerous difficulties they encountered, I never heard a single complaint. Total work time was 14 days over a three-week period that include Independence Day. Total cost was about $40k"

Stone and Gravel questions, answered by experts

These walls are durable, low-maintenance, and add aesthetic appeal and property value.

It is possible, albeit a lot slower, to break up a rock using water. You would do this by freezing and thawing the water. You could create some initial holes or cracks in the rock, then pour water into the cracks or holes and allow them to freeze (so it's best to do this in winter or in colder climates). Since water expands when it freezes, this puts pressure on the inside of the rock and causes it to crack. You could continue to pour more water in and let it freeze to continue to break up the rock.

You should use cement for a chimney crown. The purpose of the chimney crown is to protect the mortar below from water damage and the effects of weather. For this reason, chimney crowns should only be made using cement. When repairing a crown, use caulks and sealants designed for cement repair rather than mortar repair.

Certain towns and homeowner associations (HOAs) ban brick mailboxes because of the risk of obstruction. They are sometimes only permitted in cases where four or more homes share a mailbox. Homeowners may need to obtain special permits in some locations. One of the top masonry contractor hiring tips is to ask a local pro if they can show you examples of recent work that meets local code regulations.

Depending on the amount of soot present, you can vacuum some of it using a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Then, remove the leftovers with a mild cleaner, such as dish soap or vinegar mixed with water. Before applying a cleaning solution, saturate the bricks with clean water to prevent the cleaner from penetrating beyond the surface and causing structural damage to the bricks.
