I work for myself so the person you talk to is the person doing the work. I have learned that what people want the most is an experienced person that does a good job, yet why not hire someone who answers the phone every time you call, or calls you right back, shows up on time, every time, keeps you updated, and follows up? That describes me.

Over 12 years professional experience. Serving the Portland metro area. Fully licensed, insured and bonded in Oregon. Full One Stop Shopping Remodeling Experience.

"A big project that also needed to be done before our second child was born, we were happy to have Jon Orcutt working on it from the start! He was thorough in his estimate, very realistic about the time it would take, and careful to work within our budget. We were able to work through him to get countertop and tiling figured out; the most fun was how we had some shelves undecided and he and his team were excited about their ideas for solutions there, that didn't cost extra and used materials that would have been thrown away anyhow. Looking forward to the next project we'll work with him on."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

Plywood offers excellent stability and strength for drawer construction. Baltic birch plywood provides a premium appearance, while standard hardwood plywood offers good value. Solid wood works well but requires more attention to grain direction and seasonal movement.

Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals and keep cabinets dry to prevent damage.

Many kitchens have their original cabinets, so kitchen cabinets can last as long as the house does. If there’s an issue with your sink, a flood, or a fire, your cabinets could be damaged. Outside of that, with proper care, your cabinets should last quite a while, especially if they’re built from long-lasting materials like wood or steel.

To remove kitchen cabinets, you’ll need a drill, putty knife, utility knife, hammer, and pry bar. A saw may also be necessary to cut materials into smaller pieces. Wear work gloves and safety glasses for protection, and have a helper handy to support heavy cabinets as you remove them.

Removing kitchen cabinets can vary in difficulty depending on factors like experience, the cabinet's installation method, and any obstacles or complexities involved. Generally, it's a moderately difficult task that requires basic carpentry skills and tools and, ideally, a helper to support the weight of the cabinets during removal. Disconnecting utilities beforehand can complicate the project, and it’s best to hire a pro if you’re not confident in your skills.
