The chair was, for nearly 40 years, in an attic or basement. The upholstery was water damaged, faded, dirty, and the wood was scratched and had some water damage. One of the chair's arms had separated from the chair's frame. Rick repaired the chair, making the frame sturdy and usable. He refinished the wood and it looks beautiful. "fantastic - from the detail in the proposal to the execution on time on budget. They took the mantle off, removed and took away the old tile, figured out a way to dispense with some of the typical underlayment in order for the new stone hearth to come out flush with the floor, and installed the new tile. There was some basement reinforcement needed due to the workaround and they did that. Did a beautiful job - from carpentry to tile to painting. AND on their way out moved a ceiling light fixture and repaired the ceiling such that it was seamless. I am a fan!

"Peter was fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable, respectful of environment, very thorough, and everything looks amazing now. He even offered to fix something unrelated to the project and did so beautifully! Almost immediately after he left on the final day, a paint patch kept detaching itself, not on a spot where he fixed the crack, but where they had painted to make everything look nice and even. He came back the next day and had to fuss (possibly the issue was the result of a previous mistake made by another handy man) but would not quit until it looked perfect! He and his assistant were very thorough with cleaning at the end of each day, so we could function in the rooms at night. Peter is a very rare gift: someone deeply knowledgeable, honest, and professional. I cannot wait for the rest my ceilings to be fixed by him in the Spring. I highly recommend him!

"I (unfortunately) have had to call First Call for water intrusion in our basement three times now. Each time they have been extremely professional, prompt, courteous, and reasonably priced. I have worked with the same people each time (Jason and Dave) and they have gotten to know us. They treat us like friends - not customers. They've taken very good care of our family and went above and beyond what their job was, including by helping us diagnose and fix the underlying problem each time when they were really hired just to dry out the basement. The most recent call was the night before we were supposed to leave for vacation, and they ensured that we were able to go by working with us to handle everything in our absence. I completely trust the people we've worked with. I hope that we don't have anymore issues, but if we do, they're who I would call every time, and I would recommend them to anyone in the same boat.

"This company came to repair antique furniture that was damaged by movers (see review for Leaders Moving). Initially we had a bit of difficulty scheduling a time for them to come to my home, but when wee were able to find a time for them to come out they did a superb job! I had several antique pieces damaged by movers, one severely. The gentleman that arrived ( I don't remember his name), showed up on time (always a good sign!), quickly assessed what needed to be done and got to work. My antique washstand mirror & towel rack was broken in two pieces and when he was done I couldn't tell where the break was even though I watched him repair it. There was a large chip off of the leg of my mother's dresser and again he repaired it so well I couldn't tell it was ever damaged and my schoolhouse desk was the same. The repairman was knowledgeable, efficient and personable. I would definitely use them again. The $100 was the deductible I agreed to pay when the movers showed up, (I would never do that again!!) so I don't know exactly how much these repairs would have cost.
