"We manage quite a few rental properties in the Morgantown area. We started using Brian when we were not getting a very good response rate from our previous HVAC company. Brian was prompt, extremely fair, and responsive. We have been very pleased with his services. Even when we had a large volume of heating calls during the winter, Brian was able to take care of every single one that we thew at him. When he was unable to fix a unit, he was able to bring a very well priced cost of replacement to us. The turn around time on replacing a unit was amazing too. I would say A++!"

"We hired David and his crew to replace our front door and move our washer/dryer plumbing upstairs. They were punctual, professional, and kept everything clean. The door looks perfect, the plumbing works flawlessly, and the results blend seamlessly into our home. We couldn’t be happier and would hire them again without hesitation."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You should get anywhere from three to five quotes for HVAC replacement to get an idea of the average cost of a new unit. Although this quote-collecting process can be time consuming, it allows you to compare what work is required, what type of unit you should install, and how much you should expect to pay for the service.

If your AC condenser is nearing the end of its life, it might leak fluid or make loud or unusual sounds (like grinding or hissing). You might also notice that it isn’t heating your home as evenly or effectively as it once did. Also, an aging condenser will have to work harder to cool your home, which may force it to use more power and drive up your utility bills.

Yes, you can clean AC coils yourself. Just make sure that the power to your AC system is off before you begin. You’ll need some basic tools and supplies, including a soft brush, cloth, screwdriver, and a commercial or homemade cleaning solution. Cleaning your coils will only cost about $10.

Freon will go in the refrigerant lines near the back of your AC unit. Look for small ports with caps on a thin copper line—the Freon goes into those ports. You are best off hiring a licensed HVAC professional who can complete the job safely and correctly.

While all portable AC units will collect moisture as part of their cooling and dehumidifying process, whether and how often you need to drain them depends on what kind of unit you have and the natural humidity levels where you live. For example, if you live in a very dry area and have a self-evaporating unit, you may not need to drain your portable AC very often at all. Some units may automatically drain collected moisture out the window through their exhaust vent.
