"We recently hired Don Belcher to paint the inside of our home and front door. We could not be more pleased with our decision to do so. Don promptly provided us with an estimate of the cost, that he didn't go over, and was able to start painting earlier than originally planned. Do was meticulous in his work and went the extra mile to ensure no paint went where it shouldn't. When schedules changed due to other work being done in the house, Don was flexible and cooperative in rearranging his schedule to ensure deconfliction. Don has an outstanding work ethic, showing up on time and giving us a full day's work for a full day's pay. Our job was his number one priority until completion. In addition to doing a top-notch painting job, Don assisted with little extras such as making recommendations, running to get and change light fixtures, airflow regulators, outlet/switch covers, etc. He also provided us with great information about the community as we were new to West Virginia...restaurants, social activities, and outdoor recreation. Chalk paint can be applied without sanding first. Keep in mind that while there are a lot of chalk paint color options available, there aren’t as many choices as latex or oil-based paint.

You can also learn how to paint furniture without sanding using a liquid deglosser, sometimes referred to as liquid sandpaper. This can remove any old paint, gloss, or varnish, without the need to manually sand. Apply the deglosser using a cloth, then wait for the chemical to penetrate through the surface. Once it soaks through, you should be able to wipe away the residue with a towel. 

You can paint over wallpaper, but it’s not usually recommended, especially if the wallpaper underneath is textured or dirty. If you do decide to paint your wallpaper, make sure it’s in good condition and clean it very well. Make sure all corners and edges of wallpaper are glued down before you paint, as well.

You can avoid brush marks when painting your front door by painting the door off the hinges and then going over the door with a dry roller after using a paintbrush to smooth out any rough edges. You also want to avoid overloading your paintbrush with paint, as this can create an oversaturated surface where wet paint has nowhere to go.

Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.
