"Deck looks better than it has ever looked. Super hard worker. Took his time sanding, securing loose boards, hand brushed the stain, etc. Moved all furniture off and on the deck. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend."

Mr Sanderson prep'd the walls and completed finishing a patch of drywall repair that another contractor did not finish properly.  He removed baseboards for the new flooring that was to be installed.  He repaired all old nail holes and applied three coats of paint.  After flooring crew was finished, Mr Sanderson returned to install the base and apply the finial coat of latex enamel.     I also requested that all of my doors be removed and sprayed with new white enamel.   The older home I recently purchased had all of the doors stained dark brown and sealed.   The doors came out great !   The spraying area was my garage and all walls and doors were protected with plastic and  the area was returned to its original state upon completion.

I would like to mention that my home was unfurnished at the time of work.

I would recommend that you take Mr Sanderson's advice on which brand(s) of paint / finish to apply.  I did not and was unhappy with my selection and had to purchase additional product to get the look I wanted.

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.

The best temperature to paint a pool deck is between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, because many paints and sealers require temperatures warm enough for the chemical reaction to take place for proper curing. The paint should not be allowed to freeze, and temperatures above 90 degrees can cause the paint to dry too quickly, also preventing the chemical reaction from following through to completion.

It’s best to use an exterior latex acrylic paint to promote maximum adhesion to composite decking. This flexible paint type can better cope with the natural expansion and contraction that can occur with composite deck boards. Oil-based paints won’t adhere as effectively and are more likely to crack and peel as the boards flex. Testing whether your chosen paint will stick on an inconspicuous section or a spare board is a good idea.

When choosing between deck stain or paint, knowing what will last longer is important. Deck paint lasts longer than deck stain. With deck paint, you can get up to 10 years of coverage before you need to reapply. With deck stain, that time is significantly shorter at two to three years

An exterior paint job typically lasts between 5 and 10 years, though this can range from 3 to 17 years depending on several factors. The longevity is influenced by the quality of the paint and primer, the quality of the application, the local climate, and the type of surface being painted. For example, paint on wood siding may need to be redone every 3 to 7 years, while painted brick can last up to 17 years. Aluminum siding often needs repainting every 5 years.
