"Masterwork excavated our pond that had been over grown and neglected. They also graded the surrounding landscape. They did a phenomenal job. Better than we had even envisioned when we hired them. Very professional and courteous team."

"My wife & I had our master bathroom remolded. Cameron was very meticulous about his work. It was a pleasure to be consulted throughout the process. He provided options & was open to our suggestions. We absolutely love our bathroom and feel like we're in a luxury hotel. We both agree that it certainly was a great investment for us. As a result of his craftsmanship, Cameron installed a casement window in our kitchen and tile flooring in our half bathroom. We unequivocally recommend Cameron for home improvement."

"We removed the wood paneling in the basement shortly after moving in.  That's when we noticed 13 cracks in the foundation.  None of them structural issues.  They came in and repaired all of them in one day.  A couple of them were difficult to get to due to stairs and piping, but they did a great job on all of them.

"Masterwork did the excavation and grading for our new home construction. My husband and I could not speak more highly about Rob and Masterwork Construction. From our very first emails, Rob was responsive, professional and kind. We happened to see him at the property one day. He took the time to pause his work, and show us everything they were working on and go through their plans moving forward. He always kept us informed throughout the process, and was a pleasure to work with. We highly, highly recommend Masterwork Construction!"

"The work went very well, my wife and I were pleased with the prompt professional service. The price was affordable and the work was great, once finished he cleaned after himself and made sure we were satisfied. I would definitely refer this company to anyone I know who needs any home repair work. Chris met our expectations and beyond with the affordable price and high quality service along with a time frame."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The easier way to find buried sprinkler lines is to use the plan from the professionals who installed the system. If you don’t have professional plans, listen for running water on your lawn when you turn on the system. You may also spot wet areas, giving you an idea of where the heads are. Once you find the sprinkler heads, you’ll likely be able to connect the dots between them, revealing the system below.

No, a ditch isn’t a trench. A ditch is an open, relatively shallow channel that’s carved out of the ground and used for drainage purposes. In contrast, a trench is a deeper excavation that’s entirely underground. Trenches have many uses, including gas lines, sewage systems, and electrical wiring. Unlike trenches, ditches don’t get filled back in with dirt after they’re dug.

Most residential basements are 8 to 10 feet deep. You can dig deeper depending on building codes, but it does become more difficult. You’ll likely need to install stronger foundation walls and additional supports to handle the increased load. Depending on the water table, you may also need a water management system. Clay soil can support a deeper foundation than sandy soil. A structural engineer will be able to tell you the maximum, feasible depth.

Trenches are typically 12 to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, the required depth depends on the specific project and local ordinances. For example, a French drain may need to be 18 inches deep, while a water pipe might require a depth of 24 inches and a drainage pipe 36 inches. Your city or county may have specific regulations, so it's wise to consult with an excavation professional to determine the correct depth for your project.

Yes, chipmunk holes may have two or more entrances. Chipmunks can create an entire network of burrows. Having multiple entrances makes it easier for them when trying to escape from a predator, such as a snake, or if an entrance collapses due to flooding. Each entrance leads to the nesting chamber underground, which is where the chipmunk spends the majority of its time sleeping.
