"My rock border was full of dirt and weeds. The guys took out the stones, cleaned them off on the driveway, put down new weed guard, then replaced the stones and added more to fill in. It looks like new! They also sawed down a couple of stumps and worked around my existing plants. Pleased with how it turned out!"

"Mr. Sullivan brought an assistant and they cleaned our Appleton 2-story Victorian home's gutters and repaired a spot damaged by an ice dam in last year's severe winter. They were pleasant and professional. I would recommend them for this work and will be calling them soon for another gutter cleaning.

"Original appointment was missed by the company and when I called the office, apology followed along with offer for the owner to come on Saturday AM instead and appointment was kept.  He addressed the problem area where there were corresponding water marks on the ceiling inside the house.  He cauked around the flashing outside and secured some of the shingles in the problem area.

Jason showed me  a small section of the roof where an ice/water barrier was not installed and consequently ice-damming occurred and shingles were not adhering properly.  He said he could install this barrier for approximately $400, and was going to send me a quote.   He advised against using  a snow rake and informed me that his company could provide roof shoveling.  He said the rest of the roof looked good and he did not notice any other issues, however we discussed the possible problems being caused by the enclosed gutters with rain completely overshooting the roof edge in a couple of areas.  He said he really could not address that situation.

I felt he was very knowledgable and able to relay the information in a manner I could understand.  I will probably have the other repair completed sometime before winter.

"I thought I needed foundation work after I had a company install two new sump pumps as a precautionary measure, during an extremely wet time in Green Bay. The guy installed them improperly and I had water seeping in the bottom of my foundation that same night (btw it took him over five hours to install causing me great concern). He said it was a foundation issue although I’ve always had a dry basement. After tearing out wet carpeting and the walls (I’m 67)... Basten came out. In literally five minutes, Matt said the sumps were installed too high and flooded the drain tiles. In minutes he had his crew here and they installed the correct size sumps!!! No extra charge for an emergency, nor did they try to up-sale me, which as an older, single woman, easily could have happened!!! What honesty and professionalism!!!! Only took Noah and Hayden 45 minutes to install and not a drop of water since. Thank you!! Highly recommend!!!!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

The cost to purchase a snow blower ranges from $100 to $2,300 on average, depending on the make, model, type, and age of the machine. More advanced two-stage and three-stage models, which are often self-propelled and include features like power steering and heated hand grips, can cost between $950 and $1,500 or more. If you only need a snow blower temporarily, you can rent one for an average of $75 per day from a local hardware store or rental facility.

If you’re looking at how to remove snow from solar panels, heat from the sun usually melts the snow within a few days. However, snow removal might be necessary for winter solar power production in areas with deep snow during the winter. There are brushes with telescoping handles and gentle heads to brush away snow. It’s best to stay on the ground if possible and avoid using tools that could scratch the surface of the solar panels, like a snow shovel or broom.

When it comes to deciding whether a two-stage or three-stage snow blower is better, you must consider the amount of snowfall you get, the size of the area, and your budget.

A three-stage snow blower is more efficient at clearing higher volumes of snow quicker and removing ice build-up. It’s ideal for commercial use and removing snow from large areas. Make sure to compare various types of snow removal equipment to ensure you purchase the one that is best for your needs.

If you do end up with frozen gutters, it's important to thaw them correctly. Thawing your gutters slowly is far safer than trying to break apart the ice. Once you get through the ice, bring in a gutter professional to check out the effectiveness of your heated system.

Leaving a significant amount of snow on your roof can be risky. Most roofs are designed to handle about 20 pounds per square foot of snow, but exceeding this limit can lead to a roof collapse. A collapse can cause severe damage to your home and belongings and poses a physical danger to anyone inside. Furthermore, heavy snow accumulation increases the risk of ice dams, which can cause leaks and water damage to your roof, attic, and interior walls.
