I initially had a poor interaction with Mike that did not result in solving the above plumbing problem above. However, he has since connected with me and resolved the issue fairly. He did an excellent job the first time I hired him (successfully unclogging a tub drain). Even though the second time we hired him was not successful (and we had to hire a second plumber to resolve the problem) we will use him in the future because he reached out to resolve our concerns in a professional manner.
"We live in an older home that had an attic filled with vermiculite insulation. The insulation contained some asbestos. While we knew we did not have to remove it, we wanted it out considering we are installing a high velocity AC system and the contractor was going to be cutting holes in our ceilings and closets. We figured now was the time to do the job and that we wanted to do it the right way. During the consultation Rich explained the abatement process from start to finish. He laid out all the details of the job and noted that his team would try and keep as much of the flooring that was installed in the attic in tact. This was a bonus because we originally figured the very nice wood flooring that the previous owners installed would be ripped up completely. Regarding communication, when we had questions Rich was always quick to return our calls. When it came time for the actual abatement, it went very smoothly. The team completed the job in three days and given the heat in our attic and tight quarters did a great job. We noticed when we came home that some of the clocks were blinking and we figured a fuse had blown due to the power of their vacuums. We also noticed that the staff had tried to reset as many of the clocks as they could. Overall, I am very pleased with the experience."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.
The most common cause of a clogged sump pump is natural debris buildup. As water enters the sump pit, it can carry small pieces of debris that build up over time, or the debris can get caught in the filter. If you forget to cover the pit after cleaning the sump pump and pit, debris can also collect in the pit. Corrosion on the metal discharge pipe can also clog the pump. Additionally, if your pipes freeze, it can prevent water from draining properly and cause a clog.
Unlike regular cleanings, snaking your sewer line should be done as needed. There’s no reason to snake your sewer line if you don’t have any noticeable issues, like slow drainage or plugged drains. You can add it to your regular sewer cleaning checklist as a prevention method (on the same 18- to 22-month schedule), but it’s not always necessary.
You can often unclog a garbage disposal in less than 10 minutes, though sometimes you might need longer if you’re unsure what’s causing the clog.
