"This was a cold call in our neighbor. He saw we had an awning needed to be replaced. I held onto the card for a while When we called him the quote was so reasonable, that we hired to install another awing. This whole process was super easy, quick and resulting work is just beautiful. I would recommend them to anyone."

"Mike repaired the garage by adding braces on 2 damaged sections. He also added screws into an existing brace. He replaced the entry key pad and programmed it. He adjusted the door travel at the top to get the full eight foot opening. He then proceeded to adjust the closing for a snug fit with no hard impact"

"It was really fantastic. Very communicative. They spent a lot of time with you in the front end to explain. Very thorough. If we have any concerns they are very fast to respond. They do high quality work too. We've referred them to friends and family."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

If you're handy, it might be worth trying to install retractable awnings yourself. Just keep in mind that motorized retractable awnings require much more know-how, and the risk of something costly going wrong (such as damaging your new awnings) is higher.

Mechanical awnings should be easy to install for the average person with some handyman skills.

On average, awning costs range from $1,400 to $4,400. The low end of the cost range can be around $100 up to $7,500 on the high end. Cost factors include the type of awning, size, and location. Portable awnings are the most affordable and DIY-friendly to install, costing $100 to $400. Larger, motorized awnings tend to be more solidly built, ranging in price from $2,000 to $3,500.

Awnings offer a variety of materials to choose from, each of which has its own benefits. Cotton is a lower-cost option that’s also more eco-friendly because it’s made from natural materials, while acrylic-coated polyester and vinyl offer better durability against harsh weather. Fiberglass and metal are also resilient to weather, although metal can be vulnerable to corrosion without protective sealant. Ultimately, you’ll need to consider your climate and your budget in deciding the best material for your awning.

Awnings are either fixed or retractable and can be paired with a variety of cover materials. Fixed awnings are a permanent outdoor feature of a building. These are highly durable and require ongoing maintenance. Once installed, the position of this awning cannot be changed.

Retractable awnings are more popular than fixed awnings since the cover can open and close. This allows homeowners to open and close the awning, depending on the weather. When not in use, it can be closed to allow for extra space.

Costs range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design.
