The team was great however a few detail touch ups and follow ups were needed that were simply missed. We are happy with the shape, workers, slab, and speed however there are concrete chunks spated on the siding, steps are covered in concrete, and clean-up was messy!

Steam mopping might be better than regular mopping if you don’t use the right cleaning products or properly rinse or wring out the mop head. However, if you use the right techniques, regular mopping also sanitizes effectively—even if it takes more effort. Plus, you know you can use a regular mop on any flooring—including to clean laminate floors or hardwood, which don’t do well with steam cleaning.

You can buff your floors yourself if you have plenty of time, patience, and know-how. This intermediate-level DIY project requires either buying or renting a floor buffer and purchasing a buffing solution. This process can be time-consuming and, if not done correctly, can leave burn-like marks on your floor.

To ensure this job is done correctly without damaging your floors, consider hiring a professional floor buffer and polisher instead. You might save money on labor costs by DIYing this project, but you could spend more on repairs if not done correctly.

Cleaning floors is a relatively easy DIY job, but paying for a professional cleaning service is worthwhile if you don’t have the time to dedicate to cleaning or if you have particularly dirty floors, deep-set stains, or wooden floors that you might damage during the cleaning process. A professional house cleaner will have the tools and experience necessary to remove dirt, pet hair, debris, and even stains and discoloration from your floors without damaging them. The service is also relatively affordable, making it a great investment if you don’t have the time or tools to do it yourself.

A floor polisher won’t remove scratches from a wood floor, but the polish can fill in surface scratches and make them all but invisible. If you run your fingernail gently over the scratch and it doesn’t catch, chances are that the polish will hide it. If it does catch, you might want to have your floors fully refinished, and you might need to have a professional floor sander in for particularly deep scratches. When in doubt, call a professional floor polisher to determine if polish will fill in your scratches or if you need more in-depth services.

Before starting on a full refinishing project, determine if your floors need to be completely sanded down to the bare wood or if the damage is shallow and mostly cosmetic. Deep scratches and gouges will require you to rough sand using a drum sander or belt sander, but small surface scratches or floors that have only lost their luster don’t need a complete overhaul. Instead, you can skip the rough sanding step and sand-screen the old finish with a buffer, removing only the top layer of polyurethane.
