We are a small family-owned business, operating out of Lena, WI. We recently started our company branching off from our families painting company that has been operating for three generations, so we have experience and expertise in many aspects of interior and exterior work. We can help make your dream a reality through painting of walls and ceilings, to trim and cabinetry. We also do exterior painting of houses, barns, metal roofs, and more! Over the cooler months, we offer painting of furniture, such as dressers and tables. Along with painting we also do interior and exterior cleaning, which can be on a biweekly/monthly schedule, spring/fall deep cleaning, one time cleaning, and post construction clean up. "Buyer beware  Unfortunately we have had a poor experience with Leatherneck’s Painting and Remodeling Company. We originally contracted them to perform decking repair and surface refinishing of our multilevel deck. After 3 visits by the painting contractor, it became apparent that combined stripping and structural repairs would well exceed estimation, and that rebuilding would be more in order. Given the scope of project we chose to go with Nothing But Decks to accomplish rebuild. However, in discussions with the owner of Leatherneck’s Painting and Remodeling Company, Steve Coffee, we agreed that we would utilize them for staining the finished deck by the end of season, and utilize down-payment already provided for the uncompleted work (minus cost for 3 visits by the painting contractor) toward the cost of completion. This seemed to be a flexible solution to an unusual scenario. When we contacted Steve to move forward with staining the deck there was no follow through, so we decided to do the project ourselves and requested our down payment returned (minus work done by painting contractor). Once that was conveyed, there was no further response from Steve, even after multiple phone calls, texts, emails, and ultimately notification of BBB complaint. Leatherneck's Painting & Remodeling essentially took a down payment for work never completed or even materially begun. We are surprised and disappointed in the unprofessional manner in which this matter has been handled by Steve and Leatherneck’s Painting & Remodeling Company."

A finishing layer is an important step in the staining process. A top coat helps make a stain last longer by protecting it from spills, scratches, and natural weathering.

A lacquer finish is thin, fast-drying, and best used for cabinets, molding, and trim. It’s not recommended for outdoor furniture. Another option is varnish, which has a glossy finish with a protective film and is often used on outdoor wood objects. Polyurethane, known as “liquid plastic,” dries quickly but doesn’t hold up well in the heat. Lastly, a shellac finish adds a warm tint to wood but is affected by heat.

Textured or older walls with years of wear can make matching trickier. Paint on these surfaces may catch the light differently or have faded unevenly. Try to match in a smoother, less worn spot (such as behind a door or piece of art). You may also want to paint a small test swatch and let it dry completely before deciding, as it may look significantly different once it has cured.

It’s a matter of personal preference on whether you want to tip the crew or the lead painter. You can tip the crew as a whole, just the lead painter, or each individual painter. Do what feels right in the context of the job.
