Small jobs welcome

"Central Wisconsin Excavating (CWE) did a fantastic job on our project. They built a solid, well-prepared foundation for our 80,000-bushel grain bin and graded our driveways perfectly to ensure water drains away from our buildings. Their attention to detail, quality of work, and professionalism really stood out. The site was left clean and properly finished, and everything was done right the first time. We’re extremely happy with the results and would highly recommend CWE to anyone needing excavation or site work done right."

I initially had a poor interaction with Mike that did not result in solving the above plumbing problem above. However, he has since connected with me and resolved the issue fairly.  He did an excellent job the first time I hired him (successfully unclogging a tub drain). Even though the second time we hired him was not successful (and we had to hire a second plumber to resolve the problem) we will use him in the future because he reached out to resolve our concerns in a professional manner.

"We contacted Rich after our home inspector found mold in the attic of a condo we were interested in.  Rich came out promptly and assessed the situation.  He confirmed there was mold and it was not the toxic variety.  The three exhaust pipes from the bathrooms were vented into the attic, not outside.  Also in a separate, smaller attic, the stove exhaust was not vented through the roof although there was no mold in that space.  The out-of-town Seller relied on our recommendation of Custom Craft and hired them to do all the work.  The day before our closing, we inspected the attic.  The mold was gone and there were three new bathroom exhaust pipes through the roof.  We didn't see one for the stove and called Rich to ask about it.  He said he would come back out  after the closing to take care of it.  He came to the condo a few days later and somehow got himself into the attic above the kitchen through an impossibly tiny opening.  He successfully installed a new exhaust vent through the roof and connected the stove pipe to it.  He also went beyond the scope of the job by reattaching the pipe where it had come apart above the stove and taping it with silver tape.  We were very impressed with Rich's professionalism and integrity and would not hesitate to hire him again or to recommend him to others.

"Travis Houk came to my house and did the job. He shoveled the sidewalks, the front pathways and used a snowblower for the two driveways I have. When ever there was a big snow storm, he would let me know he was on his way to take care of it. Initial price is larger than the continuation of service price. All in all he did a great job and he is such a nice young man to work with."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Chemical drain cleaners can work to clear clogs in pipes, but their use should be approached with caution. These harsh chemicals can damage pipes over time, and they can also harm the environment. Use them sparingly and consider alternative methods such as using a plunger or a drain snake. If you have concerns about a persistent clog, it's best to consult a professional who can safely and effectively address the issue without causing further damage to your plumbing system.

As with many appliances, proper maintenance is key to maximizing your garbage disposal’s life span. If everyone in your household is on board with proper care and maintenance, like running water while operating the disposal, you should get plenty of years out of your unit. Avoid putting the wrong food items down the disposal, including pasta, rice, bread, and more.

There are a few reasons your snake won’t go down the floor drain. One common reason is a large obstruction in the drain that is causing a blockage. You can remove any debris you see in the drain before trying to snake it. In addition, the snake might not be long enough to reach the clog, or it might be the wrong diameter.

Coke and other sodas do clean a clogged drain, so this is one of those urban myths that has some truth behind it. Coke and similar sodas are caustic and will provide some cleaning power to your drains. However, the power of soda pales in comparison to dedicated cleaners or even baking soda.

Your sewer line can get grimy quickly. To prevent sludge buildup in your sewer line, pour a mixture of 1/3 cup of vinegar and 1/3 cup of baking soda down each drain in your home once a month. After about 30 minutes, flush the drain with hot water.

Some plumbers recommend 3/4 cup of bleach instead to clean any germs and bacteria that may build up in your sewer line. But this won’t break down any active clogs, and it cannot be combined with vinegar, as the mixture will create a toxic, hazardous gas.
