"All Service Moving was exceptional. Great customer service - easy to schedule and flexible. Royce & Frost did an AMAZING job moving all of our very heavy and fragile belongings. "I've known since early May that I would have a move to make in early July, but it was only a week or so ago that I decided to contract with a mover. So on very short notice, I contacted a few movers. One seems to have gone out of business, as I couldn't get through to them. At another I left a voicemail, but didn't get a response. But Al himself picked up the phone when I called, and was responsive to my job. He estimated that a 2-3 man crew would take about 2-1/2 hours to do my move, and he gave me a quote that was quite acceptable. Most important, he was able to accommodate me with less than a week's notice.
When the day arrived, the movers were scheduled to arrive at 10:00 a.m. Al called early that morning to say they were having an issue with one of the mirrors on the truck, and asked if it would be alright to arrive at 12:30, allowing time for the truck to be fixed. That was fine with me, as it gave me a bit more time to get my things packed and ready to go.
Three men arrived a bit early, surveyed what needed to be done, and got right to work. Loading the truck, driving to my new address (13 miles away), and unloading to just under two hours. The men were happy to do what I asked and were careful with my stuff. I consider it a successful move.
They did inadvertently leave a bag of packing materials at my old address. Al himself dropped by two days later to retrieve it.

Moving questions, answered by experts

Planning your office move should ideally start three to six months or more in advance. This timeframe allows plenty of time for tasks such as researching moving companies, creating a budget, coordinating with employees, decluttering and organizing, packing, and addressing any logistical challenges. Starting early also ensures that you have flexibility in scheduling and can handle unexpected hiccups that may arise during the planning process.

The most cost-effective way to move is to DIY most of the moving tasks, including packing, driving the moving truck, and loading and unloading. While DIY moving is typically the least expensive option, it makes the process much more time-consuming and difficult. To eliminate some of the physical and time stress associated with DIY moves, consider hiring professional movers for the most essential tasks, such as loading and unloading furniture, and completing easier tasks on your own.

Movers wrap furniture in plastic to provide protection during transportation or storage. Plastic wrap acts as a barrier, safeguarding furniture from dust, dirt, moisture, and potential scratches or damage. It helps to keep upholstery, wood, or delicate surfaces intact, preventing wear and tear during the moving process. Additionally, plastic wrap helps to secure loose components of furniture, such as drawers or doors, reducing the risk of breakage.

The best bet for most large items is a four-wheel dolly, but it depends on the size and shape of the couch. This tool provides extra stability for heavy loads and enhances maneuverability, which is useful when squeezing through a narrow doorway. Additionally, four-wheel designs reduce the effort required to move the dolly, which minimizes the number of required helpers.

Unscrew and remove furniture legs if possible. If it’s not possible, then run the straps parallel on the inner side of the furniture legs. Never put your straps on the outer side of legs where they can easily slip off.
