"I did have a little trouble getting them out for an estimate at first. Once they did come out, they brought a lot of samples and were really nice. The workers who came out were very nice and did a good job. Some laminate has come up, but I know it's not their fault. I did not know there was going to be as much dust as there was."
"These guys are really busy but they did keep us informed of their arrival although it ended up being about 1.5 hrs later than anticipated. They did a really nice job, the price was very reasonable and they were even kind enough to pick up the countertop we ordered elsewhere."

"Sears' package of services allowed me to worry very little because they coordinated all the trades. Sears has a longstanding reputation for standing behind their products, something I had not found to be true with other contractors I had used in the past. Thecarpenter/job coordinator who did the refacing work was wonderful to work with, making minor modifiations as necessary to fit my needs. I had not originally intended to purchase new appliances, but Sears offered me such a great discount that I added a new cooktop, double ovens (which required some cabinet modifications), and a dishwasher, which were installed by the carpenter. He also coordinated the quartz countertop and flooring installations. All of the work Sears did was well done and professional. After the job was completed, I noticed that a door in the den that had to be cut off to accommodate the new flooring was a bit rough, and they sent the carpenter back to fix it within a week. I was somewhat concerned that I would not like the laminate used to reface the wood cabinets, but it has turned out to be very attractive, more durable than wood, and easy to clean. No one can even find the seams in the quartz countertop or the Congoleum flooring, so I feel that their workmen are very experienced and skilled. I not only would recommend Sears to others, I would use them again for other work."
We pride our company on reliability, great communication, integrity, and quality work. We are experts in our trade and will do our best to keep you as educated as we can on your particular task or project. We look forward to earning your business!
Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts
For countertop service projects in Wisconsin, quartz is a top choice because it's non-porous and handles temperature shifts well. Granite is a durable classic for cold climates but requires sealing. Locally sourced butcher block is also popular for farmhouse styles. It's best to be cautious with marble, as it can be problematic with the state's hard water.

In Appleton, you can find full-service stone fabricators for templating and installation, or kitchen remodeling contractors who manage the entire project. Big box stores, including a regional chain popular in WI, also offer countertop installation, often subcontracting to local installers. For specific materials, you can hire specialty contractors who focus on quartz, natural stone, or custom butcher block.

In Appleton, WI, countertop service projects are urgent if you see structural damage like cracks, water damage that could lead to mold, or safety hazards like sharp edges. Wisconsin’s freeze-thaw cycles can worsen cracks. Cosmetic issues like minor stains or an outdated look can wait, especially if you plan other kitchen renovations soon. Prioritize active leaks before winter arrives.

Countertop maintenance in Appleton requires seasonal attention. In spring, inspect for winter damage and reseal natural stone. Due to Appleton's moderately hard water, granite needs sealing every 12-18 months. For butcher block, apply oil monthly during dry winter months to prevent cracking, and monitor for moisture damage during humid summers. Clean quartz with mild soap and water.

Your Appleton, WI home is a good candidate for a countertop service project if your cabinets can support heavier materials like granite and the foundation is stable, which is important in older homes. The project should also fit your home’s style—butcher block for farmhouse looks or quartz for modern ranches. Consider this update if you plan to stay for 5+ years.
