"I was on the market for a security system and this one seemed easy enough to install.......went through the process and some of the window sensors were not working. I called Customer Support who was very friendly and we went through the entire process again...this time other window sensors did not work. This went on for a week or so...then the door senors stopped working....than the motion sensor stopped working...at no time in over a month did I have a fully operational security system. As I was about to return the system I was told they have "new" sensors and they just realized they received a bad batch and are working with another company.....Gave it a try....and same issue returned....some sensors worked....some didn't. I finally returned the system and stopped getting emails.....only to find that they were still billing my credit card even after I returned the equipment. Very nice people and very understanding.....unfortunately their product is not up to par. While we do have a large home, it's an open concept and the sensors that weren't working were no more than 15ft away from the base. The previous owners of my house had a wireless system with no issues at all.....I'm going to be using that company going forward."

Hurricane Film questions, answered by experts

Costs for water or storm damage restoration generally range from $2,000 to $10,000, based on the extent of the damage and the specific services needed for repair.

In most cases, yes, you should fix hail damage to your roof. For asphalt roofs that experience hail damage, the shingles can crack and tear from impact, potentially exposing the underlayment and other building material underneath to water and pests. You might save an average of $1,100 by neglecting repairs, but water damage can cost significantly more. Even on a metal roof, where penetration isn’t a concern, the dents hail can leave behind can detract from your curb appeal, potentially making your home less valuable.

If your roof leaks in heavy rain, that means the roofing is compromised and will need to be inspected and likely repaired. Small holes or cracks in the roofing material or flashing may not be noticeable in dry weather or even in a drizzle, but if they suddenly become noticeable when heavy rain comes, it likely means that small amounts of water are leaking in at other times, potentially causing damage.

Roofing replacements and repairs expose the interior of your home to the elements. Failing to protect these areas during inclement weather can cause extensive damage and job delays. Have a conversation with your pro to learn their plans to use tarps, plastic sheeting, or other waterproofing methods to keep your home safe. Also, ask whether your pro will inspect your home during rain or snow to ensure the covering works.

After a big storm, you may not be sure if a tree was struck or not. Look for the telltale long scars, like strips or gouges in the bark of the tree, running in sometimes jagged lines down the length of the trunk. These scars will often show vulnerable living wood inside the tree. It’s also common to see scorched or wilted leaves on the side or top of the tree where lightning struck.
