Tree Cycle did an excellent job overall. Initially, Peter Gruenwoldt (the owner) responded quickly to my request to come out and give us a bid. He was on time, professional and had good suggestions for pruning the trees & bushes on our property. Once I received the permits from the city to remove the two trees in our parking strip, Peter took the initiative to make an appointment with us to do the work four days later. He and his crew arrived on time, did the work in a quick and professional manor and cleaned up after themselves, removing branches & debris from our yard. After working with several arborists over the years I would recommend Tree Cycle over any of them simply because they did the work within a week of receiving the permit, are reasonably priced, professional and did a beautiful job.
Description of Work: Tree Cycle removed two trees, ground the stumps and pruned several trees in our yard.

Peter (the owner) was great! He gave me an estimate within a few days of asking. Once I scheduled job, he had openings the following week. He removed 2 100+ft. trees in the backyard and it was a spectacular site to watch (very entertaining)!! It looks like so much fun, yet hard work to climb all those trees! They finished the job within 2 days. Peter and his team are not only a handsome bunch, but very professional and did an excellent clean-up once the job was finished! My neighbors even hired them for a small job. I will definitely have to call Peter again for any other tree work!
Description of Work: 1 Douglas Fir (100ft tall) and 1 White Pine (100ft. tall) removed and both stumps ground. Windsailing (pruning) of 2 other 100ft. trees in the yard. Removal of all of the wood.

The Japanese maple is a very valuable old tree. It is over 75 years old and approximately 13 feet tall. The tree had not been professionally maintained in a number of years and we were concerned that we might be pruning it too severely. We checked the reviews for tree services in our neighborhood on Angie's List. We contacted Tree Cycle and asked them to take a look at the tree. Peter came out and discussed the approach he would take with the tree. We liked what he said and asked him to put us on his schedule. They arrived at the appointed time and spent several hours on the tree. The approach he recommended will take place over several years. We are very happy with the first step and anticipate the next step in a year. They did a great job of cleaning up after they were done.

Although I was reluctant to have my trees removed, I picked the best company to do it. What a great experience. Peter was very helpful in helping me see the necessity of removing the damaged trees. He suggested how the other trees and bushes should be pruned, and he gave me options on all of the work I needed to have done. He and his crew were fast, thorough and left the yard looking great. He even gave some of the large cedar to the local high school wood shop at the teacher's request. Now that is true tree recycling!
Description of Work: Several trees (apple, maple and willow) and camellia bushes pruned, two large, old trees and one small tree were removed. One dead arborvitae was replaced with a new one which we purchased, but the company planted.

Peter returned my initial call for an estimate promptly. He was able to come out the same day and provided me with a written estimate for the work. I selected him to perform the work (after considering other similar bids) based on his professionalism and attention to detail. We scheduled the work for a few days later. They arrived at 8:30 am just like they said they would and proceed to quickly and efficiently perform the work. They made sure to cover my front windows to protect them from wood chips, etc. which I was very grateful for. They also made sure to cleanup my yard and my neighbors leaving no trace of their work. Peters attention to safety was very much appreciated, as the Holly tree was very tall/wide and I wanted to make sure that no trees or houses near by were impacted (which they were not). I enjoyed working with Peter and Tree Cycle and will have them back next year to prune my remaining trees. I would highly recommend them for tree removal and pruning.
Description of Work: Peter and his crew removed 2 trees from my yard (a very tall holly and a mid-size juniper), ground out the stumps and pruned two flowering cherry trees. He also removed an old stump sticking out of the rockery on the edge of our property. A thorough clean-up of their work was included.

Everything went just great. Peter and his crew spent about a half day in my yard. Peter was very sensitive to my preferences about how I wanted things done and has a very good sense of form so that my trees, while thinned, still look very natural. Things were cleaned up and hauled away completely. Peter is clearly an expert at what he does and it's a pleasure to deal with him.

Peter was responsive from the start, prompt in returning emails and calls, provided a thorough assessment of why the tree needed to come down, estimated a very fair price, showed up on time, did what he said he would do, planted our potted Christmas tree for us to replace the huge tree we had cut down, and did a very thorough clean up job. It was an absolute pleasure doing business with him and I have since recommended him to several friends.

Peter and crew arrived as scheduled. He climbed the tree, was very careful not to damage any plants or the fence, and in a little over an hour the tree was down. He left the trunk intact and will mill it and share the planks with me for woodworking after they are dry. He also made quick work of removing the stump completely - protecting the area from flying debris (I had cleared the trunk base ahead of time so we knew where all of the roots were). His crew was very conscientious and the yard was very clean when they left. I have had several trees removed before and this is my first experience with Tree Cycle and it was the best experience so far!

Prompt estimate (on spot), did the work the next day. Peter did the tree work with the assistance of two helpers. They worked about 4 hours and the job went exactly as hoped. He cut me a bench out of the wood, as well as some half-rounds for legs. I now have a large pile of cedar mulch to use on my garden as well as some decorative logs (he will take the wood or leave it for you, as you wish).
Description of Work: Cut down a huge cedar tree whose roots were within 12 inches of the house, cut branches off an overhanging maple tree, and strung a cable between two stalks of a hemlock tree that was in danger of splitting apart in a windstorm. The last idea was Peter's and it sounded like a very good one. My yard is on a hillside and difficult for access as well as for working.

3 people worked very hard and Peter never came down out of the tree until he was finished--5 hours. It started raining around hour 3 and poured hard for a while. An excellent job. They cleaned up afterwards, told me how to deal with the wood I didn't want and piled the chips around my yard so I can spread them. I have a giant cedar he's going to clean out a bit.

Peter arrived as scheduled for the estimate, and explained all options for saving trees and improving their health. He and his crew arrived as scheduled for the work, and did a great job. In addition to the scheduled work, they performed some extra work that we asked them, and also added a pulley halfway up the redwood so that we could hand a bird feeder. They were very professional and cleaned up very well after the work.

I called Friday and Peter came out the next day to give me a bid. I asked about cutting down a laurel hedge and large cherry tree also, wanting a bid for each item to determine what I could afford now and what needed to wait until later. One stump had to go due to other work scheduled. He looked at each item and carefully assessed the situation. We discussed leaving the laurel hedge as it was a great privacy hedge. I determined I could only afford the stumps at this time, and he was totally amiable to just doing that work without giving me that "extra travel charge" mumbo jumbo I'd expected. Another company I called wouldn't line item the bid, but I pushed for a number on the one critical stump, and they reluctantly gave me that at a cheaper price than Peter had. I decided to go with Peter anyway, as his overall bid was cheaper, and he really seemed to care about the plants and the job. I liked his attitude. He ground the stumps on the next Monday and they are gone! Great work.

Peter showed up on time and walked around my yard with me, interviewing me about each plant I wanted pruned. He identified issues that other arborists missed and was very helpful in demonstrating what action was needed where, and describing what the trees would look like when they were complete. The two apple trees I presented him with were in terrible shape to start, so he had his doubts. He suggested a couple of ways we could attempt to improve the trees, but was (rightfully) very doubtful that they could be pruned into something shapely. I appreciate that he gave me true and honest assessments about what was possible. He came exactly on time and did excellent work--the yard looked so much bigger and the trees more elegant than before! Peter's rates are well priced, and he didn't charge me for outrageous extras like $300 for renting "no parking" signs (others did.) In the end, he did a TERRIFIC job for a good price and I will happily hire him again.
Description of Work: At our new house, Peter pruned and shaped a front-yard cherry tree and two curb strip apples that were a big challenge. He re-shaped a Camila, pruned a large laurel hedge, limbed some cedar trees in back, pruned a lilac bush into a better shape, tamed the hydrangea that had taken over our entire driveway, and generally brought order and elegant symmetry to an untamed yard.

All work performed in one day, 9:00 to dusk. No problems, listened to my concerns that morning, answered all my questions patiently, all area cleaned-up. Would recommend him to my brother-in-law in Seattle. Peter loves what he does and he did a beautiful job, especially when it is so dangerous and difficult.
Description of Work: Peter and his crew took down one sick 30 year old flowering plum and sick weeping Burch, lightly pruned two large Japanese maples, one flowering cherry needed clean out pruning and a small but neglected crane apple with a zillion waterspouts pruned. All wood stacked for our fire place, cleaned-up branches hauled away at no extra charge as some other companies were charging. I got 4 bids, Peter was the best bid. He is friendly, on time, all areas cleaned-up, my other shrubs unharmed--especially the front with my small prize maple and a star magnolia right underneath the plum were left perfect and beautiful.

They did a beautiful job! Peter listened attentively to my concerns, both about the dangers of nearby trees and the aesthetic effect that I was concerned about--even remembering to spare a single branch of a tree that supports an old clematis vine. He and his crew arrived promptly and finished within a half hour of when they said they would. The exterior of my home has never looked better cared for. His crew were all polite and efficient. I've seldom seen men work so quickly and skillfully. My only suggestion for others is that they realize how busy this company and is well worth waiting for. Because of the recent high winds, I had to wait about two weeks before they could come, but I was very glad I had waited.
Description of Work: Tree Cycle removed two trees, a large section of broken laurel hedge, and did extensive pruning and windsail reduction on six others. They also ground all the loose branches in the yard and there were many still there from last December's storm. They cleaned the roof of two years' accumulated leaves and moss, and swept all the walks and surrounding area of my home clear of debris.

After calling we received a prompt estimate with a very competitive bid. Tree Cycle was the only firm that was also willing to split & stack the wood for us. Peter is reassuringly knowledgeable, considered and professional. They were able to schedule us quickly due to the potentially dangerous state of the tree in this storm season. They worked efficiently and completed the work quite quickly. The clean-up was amazing. The whole place was spiffier looking than when they arrived. We have other less pressing tree work and will definitely be using Tree Cycle again. They exceeded our expectations.

Peter came out to give a complimentary estimate the day after I called. I could not be home to meet with him, but I told him over the phone which trees I wanted pruned, and what my concerns were. He left an estimate at my door, and I went over it on the phone with him later. We scheduled the work, but he had to reschedule the day before, for a week later. He was very apologetic. Fortunately, we were not in a big rush to get the work done, so that was not a problem. He arrived to our home at the scheduled time and walked around the yard with me to confirm what I wanted done. He and his one assistant worked nonstop for two hours and cleaned up all the debris afterwards. He ended up removing more limbs from one of the trees than originally expected, but did not charge extra for it. I would definitely recommend Tree Cycle, and would hire him again in the future.

I called Peter at Tree Cycle. He was prompt in returning my call. He gave me several options and the price breakout to cut down a small columnar flowering cherry and a flowering pear. I felt the price was reasonable in comparison to the other two estimates. I was given several options; the choices I made would cost me $430.00. I asked if this included tax or not, and Peter said he would do the whole job for $400.00 tax included. Also, he said if I had any other large branches that needed to be chipped, they would do that with the job as an added on service. I did have several large branches chipped long with my tree removal. Also I had the option to keep the chipped tree material as mulch. Once I decided to use his service, he was able to schedule time to come do the job the following week. I was at work when the trees were cut down. When I got back from work the trees had been cut down, all debris and by extra branches chipped. None of the other shrubs in my yard were damaged.
Description of Work: I had a columnar flowering cherry and a flowering pear cut down, all debris removed, with the option of having any additional branches from my yard chipped. I felt I got my money's worth, the job was done with care, debris well cleaned up.
