"On 4/24/26 Orbit Electric (Nick and Brandon) came to my house on Vashon Island, WA, to install a ChargePoint Flex level 2 EV charger in my carport. They did a great job. They came with all the materials and equipment needed for the job. Setting up the PVC conduit was especially tricky, and in accomplishing this part of the job, they were very professional and creative. It was clear to me that they know the electrical code well. After they left the jobsite, I used the charger, and it works well. The next time I need the help of licensed electricians, I will definitely call Orbit first."

"Lisa was ontime, efficient, and fairly priced. After she completed the service call, she suggested I replace my breaker box and explained why. Her honesty and no hard sell made it an easy yes. Again, she completed work ontime and at a fair price PLUS built a required platform for the meter reader to stand on. She did this in the pouring rain with her own materials and did not chrage me for it all so the inspection would pass without hassel AND she presented me with a bottle of wine for being her customer! I have recommended her to all of my friends!"

"Absolutely outstanding service! I needed my old home car charger swapped out for a new model, and the entire experience was smooth from start to finish. The electrician arrived on time, explained everything clearly, and the quality of work was excellent. You can tell they really know their craft. My new charger works perfectly, and the area was left cleaner than they found it. I’ll definitely be using them again and recommending them to friends and family"

"After paying the $165 diagnostic charge, which is fine, the technician said I needed to replace the AC power disconnect which sets right just beside the AC unit compressor outside, and charged $540. After the fact, I come to see that the disconnect retails for $27 on Amazon. He spent 15-20 minutes on labor for that. Obviously, I felt gouged. However, the unit is functioning fine now. So, maybe I am just another customer that complains about the price, but I need to give you guys my honest opinion."

"Rock Electric was great. We had electricity brought to a new shop in our backyard. The Rock people were on time, they stayed in touch while we were scheduling and rescheduling. The initial visit went well and all the little details were worked out in a straightforward manner. No issues when we requested the work be permitted either. They were accommodating and professional When there was a question about the trench we dug that we thought met specs they reached out immediately and made sure they were ok to proceed. The job was done quickly and the permitting inspection was also done at the same time. Great customer service. They did a fine job of staying in touch for time frames. After initially speaking with some other outfits that never got back to us or did not show or call for their scheduled appts it was refreshing to work with a group with conscientious, communicative, customer oriented people. We would definitely hire them again if a project comes up. Thanks guys."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.

Upgrading your electrical system can save you money on your monthly utility bills by powering your home more efficiently. Electrification nonprofit Rewiring America estimates that a household could save $1,800 per year on energy bills by upgrading to a modern electric heat pump, switching to a heat pump for their water, installing solar panels on the roof, and converting to an electric vehicle.

Setting up utilities on a vacant property usually takes at least a few months, or between 6 weeks to 16 weeks. This process requires working with the local planning and zoning department, hiring a building contractor or engineer to design the utility layout, securing permits, laying the lines, and connecting the utilities.

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.
