You’ll want to use a sprayer to paint your garage door, especially if the door has panels and other details. A sprayer can get those hard-to-reach places much easier than cutting in with a brush or trying to roll the paint. It’s often limited in color selection. If you’re painting a low-traffic area, such as a closet, ceiling paint might work in an absolute pinch. But for most walls, it’s worth using a more durable, wall-specific formula.

Whether or not you should paint your interior doors is really up to you. If you want a more natural, rustic appearance, consider staining your doors instead of painting. Note that this is often only possible for solid-core doors. If you’re finishing a hollow-core door, these often come pre-primed and are meant to receive a coat of paint before going up in your home.

Mediterranean architecture and decor usually focus on earth tones for the bulk of the interior and exterior, including red, terracotta, cream, and white. Some homes in this style use bright colors with ornate designs as accents, like tile floors or backsplashes, or smaller pieces of decor, like throw blankets, area rugs, and pillows. The Spanish Revival style tends to be more muted, while the Italian Renaissance style is more flashy and makes more use of bright accents. Modern Mediterranean homes can be either or provide a mix of both.

Sanding a wood floor can be a lot of work, especially if the room is large. However, if you skip this step, the paint might not stick properly to the floor. Over time, your paint can peel or chip. Eventually, you may need to repaint the floor all over again. Save your time and money by sanding the floor the first time.
