He offered us options including a simple fix (which due to the original construction probably wouldn't last) or to replace that section of the roof with a proper installation. We opted for the proper installation and it looks great and we feel good for that area of the roof (other areas could still be a problem as he noted, but we will deal with those areas as needed). They were also great at cleaning everything up and making sure we were satisfied with the state of the yard (after some bushes had slight damage).
