"My husband and I had a small hauling job consisting of some old gutters, pieces of wood, an old little cabinet and a broken trunk. Among all of the debris were small pieces of wood and weeds and everything was spread out in the yard. Seth took all of the items we had with the best attitude! We loved the wonderful customer service he provided during the short time it took him to fill his truck with our debris and junk!! Seth worked with us on the cost so we could budget on our fixed income and finally afford to have our yard clean. The cost was very reasonable and a great value! We will look to Seth (a general contractor) with Kopp Preservation and Restoration for our painting job and any other future projects!! I highly recommend calling Seth for jobs large or small, as he is reliable, timely, competitive, trustworthy and very nice!!"

Childproofing questions, answered by experts

The best time to hire a childproofing professional is at least three months before your due date. Although it might seem early, proper childproofing takes time, especially if you need extensive services like a pool fence. Getting your house ready now before your child is on the go only helps to protect them at all stages of life.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are a safe and effective way to protect children from electrical hazards. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the outlet slots when not in use, preventing a child from inserting foreign objects. While they are the safest option available, it's important to note that few things can be considered truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug, so constant supervision around any electrical device is recommended. Tamper-resistant outlets are a much safer solution than childproofing covers, which can be removed by children and may pose a choking hazard.

Many parents, especially first-time parents, agree that professional childproofing is worth it. These professional childproofing services are trained to recognize dangerous home situations that many people would overlook until it's too late. Furthermore, professional childproofing experts have access to top-of-the-line equipment you can't purchase at most stores, providing longevity and peace of mind.

The average cost of childproofing services is $410. This cost can range from $190 to $630 or more, depending on the size of your home and what services you need.

The location of the childproofing additions also plays a vital role in the overall cost. For example, a bathroom is relatively small and costs about $150 to fully childproof. However, if you have a swimming pool, you could spend as much as $1,500 to $10,000 to make it entirely safe for small children, including adding a pool fence.

In many cases, you can DIY home childproofing with success. You can purchase childproofing tools like cabinet locks, outlet covers, and table-edge guards and install them easily.

However, it's best to have a professional childproofing service work on larger projects like pool safety or furniture anchoring. These safety measures can take a lot of time and effort to DIY, plus, you want to ensure the tasks are done correctly to keep your child safe.
