After consulting with my wife to design the kitchen layout, Kline Construction's cabinet shop and in house painters (wood stain also) produced all of the cabinetry in the kitchen. Bird's eye maple was selected for the cabinet veneer. Paul Lacaille oversaw all of the carpentry and was the first person on the site and the last to leave. He had many great ideas (door to the patio), and his high standards insured that everything was done the way he did it or else... His thoroughness discovered water damage in one of the bedrooms from shoddy repair of the chimney flashing, which the previous owners occluded from us. He had the drywall completely removed to check for damage to the beams of the house and to mitigate any mold. Stuart Evans (roofing) spent almost a whole day to repair the flashing and damage just below. John Petrea (Natural Accents Flooring) and his crew did a wonderful job on the maple flooring. Troy Grady of GSS Construction cut 3 Granite slabs to produce the Blue Luis granite that became the large kitchen island, and countertops. The same granite was used in the downstairs powder room, the second floor bar area, and the cabinet top in the solarium, which also had all the floor tiles replaced to match the maple flooring. In summary, Kline Construction and their talented associates brought out the beauty of the property by taking into account what we wanted and gave us their sage advice on how to carry out the work practically. Most builders can knock out cookie cutter homes. It takes a master builder, however, such as Kline Construction to renovate a home, keeping the best of the old and transforming the home with the owner's vision in mind. To accomplish this work, talent and teamwork are needed, and Kline provides both. Since the initial renovation, we have used Kline construction for smaller jobs and advice, which Dennis and Andy Kline are always willing to provide. All Weather Roofing replaced our shake roof with 50 year composite roofing, which looks great. Rutherford Electric continues to do small and larger jobs for us. We are now planning additional home improvements and have chosen Kline and Associates to do them.

After coming to see what I wanted done, met with me again to go over what flooring etc. that I wanted so could do a bid- let me take home the color sample book to get a good idea of color that I wanted. They took all my cabinet doors to their workshop to paint them which made it nicer for me so did not have to have sanding etc. done in my kitchen. I had dark blue paint on some of the doors so it took them 6 or 7 coats to cover it. I had picked out hardware on line but they went to store and brought several styles to make sure I got what I wanted. I felt like they really cared that I got exactly what I wanted. All the work was done in a very professional manner. I needed to call them about a few items after work was done and they always responded in a timely manner and made sure that the items got fixed. I have never worked with a contractor before and would call this a very happy experience with them. I would absolutely hire them again.

They came out for free and took the measurements of my floors. Then they walked me through various brands and colors; they loaned me full size tiles to take home, so I could see what they would look like on site. When I finally picked a color, they were able to schedule the installation so they could get it done before my new dishwasher arrived. They had to rip up some portions of the old vinyl flooring under the dishwasher where it had warped, but when they were done, you couldn't even tell. They not only put the tiles in beautifully; they repaired some old baseboards that another flooring person had messed up. They also sealed around all the baseboards so no dirt could get under or behind them. Thoughtful little touches like these make their installers top notch and worth every cent! These guys either don't know how to do a good job or they didn't care to. One of the problems with Angie's List in the Yakima area is there are very few provider reviews, so when we decided to talk to someone about refinishing our floors, we hit the yellow pages. The ad for Marshall's said they'd been serving Central WA since 1957 so I gave them a call. We set up an appointment with Fred. He showed up when he said he would and gave us what we felt was a reasonable bid. (I gave them an "F" because the final product wasn't worth the price) They could get started fairly soon and, since we really didn't know who else to call, we gave him the job without getting other bids. He struck us as someone who'd forgotten more about hardwood floors than a lot of people know. Of course, Fred doesn't do the work. That's left up to Fred's son Doug and two other men on their crew. Things started off ahead of schedule. We hired some guys to move our furniture the day before the start date. Fred called early that morning and said they were dropping off one of the crew members to get started sanding the edges. It was lucky I was there, because I live in another town a couple hours drive away. We plan to live in the Yakima home when we retire. When they dropped the guy off, Fred and the rest of the crew came in to have a look. This is the only time I saw or spoke to foreman Doug until we paid them off. Fred called about a week later and said they were finishing up with the stripping part of the project. He called to discuss repair alternatives in one area. I took the lower cost alternative and, ironically, this is one of the best looking areas on the new floors. About a week after that I called Fred back for a status report. He told me they had put on the first coat that day and were going to decide the next day whether to try to do two coats that day (a Friday) or to do the third coat on the following Monday. I asked him to call back after they decided. No callback. My wife and I had been planning to go over and check out the project anyway, so we drove over that Friday evening. We found the floors hadn't been refinished at all: they were about half done with the final sanding. We also discover they were storing their sanders in the bathrooms that had been recently remodeled rather than on a nearby porch. They'd also been mixing their putty in our sinks and hadn't bothered to clean them up (actually they never did). We found it a little unnerving that Fred was giving us bad information, but decided he'd probably gotten an optimistic report from the crew. I gave Fred the opportunity to call me the following Monday, but he didn't. I called him on Tuesday. He seemed defensive ("your floors were in much worse shape than we thought," etc) and didn't really explain the discrepancy or why he didn't call me back. He did say the first two coats would be applied later that week and the third the following Monday. We went to Yakima again that weekend and the floors did have finish on them. The work was horrible (more on that later). Two specific problems were a bad board and the putty: when I was younger and had limited funds, I used white wood putty to fix the surface before I painted the floors. Marshall's just sanded the suface and put finish on it. One area looked like someone had splattered white paint on it. I called Fred that Monday and let him know we weren't happy with the job. He said they'd look at the board and the putty, but assured me the finished floors would be much nicer after application of the final coat and the floors were buffed. Next weekend: I'll admit the floors looked better: on a scale of 1 to 10 they went from 1 to 2. They did a half-hearted job of "fixing" putty and totally ignored the bad board. The finish is a disaster: there are areas where the finish is pooled up right next to areas that seem to have been missed at least once. Our dining room looks like someone spilled a can of pop on it. That's one of the things I'd mentioned to Fred in my earlier complaint call. There are trails of finish drops, finish slopped onto the quarterround, etc. etc. Marshall's poor quality of work was matched by their lack of professionalism: They moved our stove to get to the 220 service and didn't move it back or plug it in. They burned out another 220 circuit breaker and didn't bother to tell us. They left cigarette butts in our yard and putty on our porch as well as the sinks. But my favorite is: someone wearing boots tracked finish across our non-hardwood kitchen floor. This is no big deal as we're going to remodel the kitchen, but Marshall's didn't know that. We'd already hired the movers to put our house back together and we had a large group of family showing up the following weekend. There was really no time to fix it and we didn't think Marshall was able, let alone willing, to try. We decided to just pay them off with as little drama as possible. While we were doing that, Doug mentioned a special floor care product and said he'd drop some off at the house. He didn't. This stuff, they told me, would require me to be gone from my house for a couple of days, due to the strong smell. I arranged to spend time elsewhere, but I was there when they removed my old carpeting. I was told that a "master craftsman" would do the installation, but when the time came, I was told he was busy on another site. The two guys who actually showed up began by saying they would have to remove, not just the carpet, but the sub-flooring. It wasn't until after one of them had casually sliced a big gash in the sub-flooring with a nearby circular saw that they realized the walls were actually sitting on the sub-flooring -- which meant the sub-flooring had to stay. No problem, they said; the wood flooring would cover up the gash.
The unforeseen problem that arose with this discovery was that the vinyl in my dining room would now be 3/8ths of an inch lower than the wood flooring. I asked about the baseboards and whether it would be a problem to reattach them. Judy said, don't worry, our "master craftsman" would fabricate whatever was needed. The laying of the floor was no problem, as such. But the two guys didn't make any attempt to smooth the transition from the wood floor to the vinyl floor, which would have made it likely that someone could trip over the edge of the wood when they came into the living room. Okay, so they sanded down the edge and rounded it off. They had to do this for the bathroom doors too. Then came the coating. I stayed away for a couple days, and when I came back, everything looked beautiful at first. Then, upon closer inspection, I realized that they hadn't even bothered to sweep the floor before they applied the coating. Dust and lint and hair had all been glued to the floor. In some places it was so bad that when I ran my hand over the floor, I got cut.
When I asked Judy to come take a look at it, she said she couldn't see anything wrong. When I pointed out a big strand of hair that had been glued to the floor, her response was, "Well, it's YOUR hair."
They hadn't even put the baseboards back on the wall, or reattached my baseboard heater. In the he places where the wood flooring met the doorway of a room with carpet, they had trimmed the carpet so far back that the sub-floor was showing and they hadn't even bothered to reattach it to the floor. I said I wouldn't pay until these problems were resolved. So, okay, I would need to make arrangements to leave my house again for another couple days.
When I got back, I honestly couldn't tell much difference. They might have a few gratuitous swipes with a sander before dumping more "Swedish" finish over the top. They didn't put the baseboards back, or the baseboard heater. I figured I may just as well go ahead and do that myself. But I did call them back to fix the carpet, which they finally did.
And I finally paid them, just to get the whole ordeal over with.
Employ them at your own risk."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/wa/ellensburg/judy%27s-floors-and-more-reviews-5283665.htm"},"position":10}]}

FAQs for floor sanding projects in Ellensburg, WA
The cost to refinish hardwood floors is $1,900 on average, ranging from $600 to $4,500, depending on the area size, the floor’s condition, the type of wood, the type of coating, and the refinishing method. Traditional refinishing includes sanding the floors, which can be very dusty and costs about $3 to $8 per square foot. Dustless refinishing uses a vacuum to collect dust during the sanding process, reducing the amount of dust produced, and costs about $5 to $8 per square foot.
You should aim to hire a professional floor cleaner once or twice per year to remove any set-in stains, resolve scratches, and make your floors look shiny and new again. If you have a bustling household with many children, pets, or severe allergies, having your floors cleaned four times per year is worth the investment to maintain the integrity of your flooring. Don’t forget to prioritize cleaning your floors yourself in between professional cleanings, too.
The cost to install hardwood flooring is about $4,800 on average, ranging from about $1,000 to $12,000. Nationally, the average cost to install hardwood floors ranges from $6 to $12 per square foot for labor and materials. High-end woods and large spaces may cost $13 to $25 per square foot.
Additional cost factors include:

It’s time to refinish your hardwood floors when they show signs of age that diminish their overall appearance and function. A few surefire signals that you should consider refinishing your hardwood floors include:
Gouges, scrapes, deep scratches, and dents over a significant area
Discoloration from stains or sun exposure
Water damage causing rotting, warping, or bowing
Weak, spongy, or soft spots in the floor indicating damaged subflooring
Dull and worn appearance across most of the floor
The cost for professional floor cleaning is $250 on average. This cost can range from $100 to $1,500, depending on the type of flooring and its square footage.
For example, natural stone flooring requires specialized techniques and care, so you'll spend closer to the higher end of the cost range. The cost of cleaning tile and grout is more cost-effective, where you'll pay an average of $0.50 to $3.50per square foot.
