"Anthony was very knowledgeable about all the electrical that was listed as needing repair from the inspection we had done on our home. The electrical work that he completed was done well and looked very nice and clean afterwards. Anthony was great to work with, very kind and efficient!"

"On 4/24/26 Orbit Electric (Nick and Brandon) came to my house on Vashon Island, WA, to install a ChargePoint Flex level 2 EV charger in my carport. They did a great job. They came with all the materials and equipment needed for the job. Setting up the PVC conduit was especially tricky, and in accomplishing this part of the job, they were very professional and creative. It was clear to me that they know the electrical code well. After they left the jobsite, I used the charger, and it works well. The next time I need the help of licensed electricians, I will definitely call Orbit first."

"Called Elemental Electric for complete electrical panel replacement and Jesse showed the next morning. He gave me a thorough estimate that was half the cost of another company estimate. I wanted a 30 amp generator hookup installed and he gave me a great deal and added it to the job. I also needed an outdoor electrical outlet added due to a tankless water heater I was having installed and Elemental Electric installed it while they were replacing the panel. The job was done quickly, professionally and at a reasonable price. The electricians who performed the work were professional and cordial and worked quickly. I have more electrical work to get done in the near future and I won't hesitate to use Elemental Electric for that work!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, pool pumps use a significant amount of electricity, making them one of the biggest energy consumers in a home. A pool pump can use up to three times as much electricity as a refrigerator. Typically, a residential pool pump consumes about 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) for every hour it runs. Because pumps often need to run for about eight hours a day to properly filter the water, this can add up to an annual consumption of 3,000 to 5,000 kWh, which can cost between $480 and $800 per year based on average electricity rates.

The amount of electricity your pump uses depends on its size, energy efficiency, and daily run time. To lower your energy consumption, you can choose an energy-efficient or variable-speed pump, ensure it is correctly sized for your pool, and run it only for the minimum time required to keep the water clean.

Just like apples in a bunch, one bad outlet can cause other outlets to stop working. This is especially true if the outlets are connected in a series on the same circuit. When one outlet develops a fault, it can spread to every outlet downstream of the original.

You shouldn’t try to touch the electric fence, as it will shock you. Typically, the shock is low enough to be uncomfortable to humans or animals that come into contact with the fence. But an electric fence with high voltage, or a faulty fence, could shock you and cause serious injuries when touched.

Overall, heating your home with an oil furnace tends to be less expensive than heating your home with an electric heating system. Oil heating systems stay warm for longer periods of time without drawing a constant electrical current to maintain a temperature. Plus, heating oil systems typically have a longer lifespan and lower price tag than their electrical counterparts, resulting in short- and long-term savings.

A C-wire is typically blue, but don’t rely on colors to find which wire is which when it comes to thermostat wires. The C-wire may also be black, brown, or purple. Instead, if you’re looking for the C-wire, look at the thermostat panel for a wire connecting to “terminal C,” or call in a pro to help you look for a C-wire.
