Small jobs welcome

"LIsa was absolutley great. On time, and very knowledgeable. She more than helped me out when I know nothing about electrical. You want to hire someone who you can trust, but you just never know. Lisa was great right from the start, she made me feel at ease from the beginning and I would recommend her again in a minute. Great job, thank you. Rick G."

"Nick and his team were exceptional - price was the best of all quotes I pulled, their communication was excellent and consistent, project photos and insights throughout and they left the site just as clean as they found it. "Called Elemental Electric for complete electrical panel replacement and Jesse showed the next morning. He gave me a thorough estimate that was half the cost of another company estimate. I wanted a 30 amp generator hookup installed and he gave me a great deal and added it to the job. I also needed an outdoor electrical outlet added due to a tankless water heater I was having installed and Elemental Electric installed it while they were replacing the panel. The job was done quickly, professionally and at a reasonable price. The electricians who performed the work were professional and cordial and worked quickly. I have more electrical work to get done in the near future and I won't hesitate to use Elemental Electric for that work!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A wire stripping tool is the easiest way to strip sheathing or plastic insulation from electrical wires. A self-adjusting wire stripper cuts and removes the sheathing without damaging the core wire.

You can determine what size generator you need for a transfer switch by matching the switch to the largest outlet on your generator. Larger generators can power up to 10 circuits, while most 5,000-watt generators can provide power to six circuits. So, if your generator’s largest outlet is 30 amps, you’ll need a 30-amp transfer switch.

Yes. Like other trained specialists, electricians need to be licensed in their state of operation, and carry specific kinds of insurance required by that state, which usually includes general liability insurance and surety bonds. When choosing an electrician, always pay attention to these details, and avoid electricians who can’t offer proof. When it comes to wiring, you want experienced, trained pros doing the work.

Yes, you can use a 3/0 AWG wire for a 200 amp service, but only if it is made of copper, as 3/0 copper wire has an allowable ampacity of 225 amps. If you are using aluminum or aluminum copper-clad wire, you need to use at least 4/0 AWG.

Common warning signs of an overloaded electrical panel or meter box include frequent circuit breaker tripping, flickering or dimming lights, scorch or burn marks, and a burning scent coming from the panel. A circuit breaker trips as a protective measure to prevent overheating and potential fires. If you observe any of these signs, turn off the affected circuit breaker and move some devices to a different circuit. If the problem persists after turning the breaker back on, you should contact a professional electrician to resolve the issue.
