No. Well pump replacement is not recommended as a DIY project, particularly if you have a deep well and a submersible pump. Plumbing and electricity are best left to the pros, especially when something like your well pump includes both. The right psi for your well pressure tank depends on the tank’s pressure settings. For instance, if yours is set to 30/50 psi (which is common), the ideal psi is 2 to 3 psi below the cut-on pressure—in other words, 27 to 28 psi. However, if it’s at a higher setting of 40/60 psi, 38 psi would be the appropriate level.

If you have a small well or a particularly high water demand, it’s possible to overuse your well. How quickly a well replenishes depends on its water source. In this case, you may want to purchase a water storage tank that you can fill from the well in off-hours, or if you’re planning to build a new well and you expect a large water demand, you may want to build a deeper well to match your needs.
