"Sales process was good, courteous and helpful. Installation instructions were easy to follow. Did have a small issue with one sensor which was easily solved with a call. Control panel is easy to use and well constructed. Phone app is the best part. Not a big fan of a 2 year contract and the monthly rate feels a little high, but definitely a decent system. I had emailed them a question pertaining installing on double hung windows and never received a reply, but other than that their phone support prior to that was good."

"Ace Handyman Window Division, Inc., was wonderful to work with. Richard was always available to answer questions and make any changes or suggestions we had. Ace Handyman repaired or replaced soffits and fascia and wrapped the entire house. He always followed up with his workers to ensure they were doing the best work possible. Richard was also resourceful in providing a tile man to replace broken tiles in the foyer and kitchen. I especially appreciated the way Richard worked within my budget and completed the job within the proposed timeframe. I definitely would recommend Ace Handyman Window Division, Inc. to anyone needing handyman services."

Window Tinting questions, answered by experts

To darken your windows without curtains, try installing window film or even installing an awning outside your windows. Window film is a DIY-friendly option with many different darkness levels you can choose from to fit your desired look. Awnings can also help by casting shade over your window, though this isn’t feasible for every home.

If your window film doesn’t come with an installation kit and its own application solution, you can make your own—but don’t use soap! Instead, use 1 teaspoon of baby shampoo mixed with a gallon of bottled water. Make sure the bucket in which you mix this solution is completely clean.

ENERGY STAR®-certified windows are the most energy-efficient windows on the market. This certification means that the window meets strict efficiency guidelines set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency. While they might cost more upfront, they can save you money on your energy bills in the long run. ENERGY STAR®-certified windows lower household energy bills by an average of 12% annually.

If you have bubble wrap lying around the house and you don’t care about the odd look, taping bubble wrap over a window is a very affordable way to insulate it. Another inexpensive option for insulating windows is to add new caulk around the glass. This step quickly cuts down on air drafts for older windows, and a tube of caulk only costs a few dollars. Adding plastic shrink film around the glass is another cost-effective option. You can purchase a kit of plastic film for a few dollars per window.

The best windows to tint are those that get the most direct sunlight—particularly sunroom windows or windows facing the south or east where the sun shines most brightly throughout the day. If your pets have favorite windows to lie in front of, you may want to consider those, as well, to protect their skin from sun damage.
