"so happy that Kevin (owner) was able to schedule our cleaning on short notice! he was prompt and considerate (wore shoe covers while inside and wrapped the ladder legs in cloth so they wouldn't mar the walls). the soft-washed soffits looked like they had a fresh coat of paint. we've used two other companies in the past, but Kevin (who worked alone on this job) did a better job than the other multi-person crews; even my wife noticed it!"

Hi! My name is Rebecca but I go by the nickname, Gigi. I am 51 and have 40+ years of cleaning experience. Rooted from working with my mother as a child, I was taught to clean with special attention to every detail. As an adult I have always maintained that attribute in everything that I do. Raising 5 sons in a clean and healthy environment while working full time has been my greatest accomplishment above all other successes in my life. I would be honored to assist customers in cleaning, & organizing their home or business. Looking forward to working with you!

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

An improper DIY roof cleaning could cause leaks by damaging the roofing material. Things like using too much water pressure on the shingles or applying a harsh cleaning solution could cause damage. If you do enough damage, you could harm the ability of the shingles or other roof materials to keep water out of your home.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

Risks include slipping, shingle damage, or chemical misuse. Professionals ensure safety and proper procedures to minimize these hazards.

While spotting a bit of algae on your roof may not bother you at first glance, it is certainly bothering your roof shingles. The presence of algae can cause decay and shorten the lifespan of your roof’s shingles, which can lead to much bigger problems down the road. While this issue may seem cosmetic at first glance, it goes much deeper than that.

There are several ways to remove snow from your roof: using a snow rake, salting the roof with calcium chloride, using a rope (cautiously), and using heating cables. It’s important to mention that pretty, fluffy, sparkling snow weighs a great deal, and when physically removing snow from a roof, you should be aware of large snow slabs breaking off. These can weigh hundreds of pounds and are a real danger, so be extremely careful anytime you’re doing this type of work.
