"Owner/operator John Rife is a top notch contractor who employs first rate employees to get the job done. In my basement, I had a concrete slab floor and two old, drafty windows that needed replacement. I wanted him to put down a nice Cali Bamboo floor and add new Anderson windows. When he came to give his initial estimate, we talked at length about what the job entailed. He answered my questions, however ridiculous, with a direct honesty that was refreshing. John gave me the price estimate that was fair: not as high as other contractors with whom I spoke but not as low as others either. What made him our pick was that I felt that based on our conversations, I could trust him to do the job on time and on budget. I am happy to say that not only was the job done on time, the price did not go up along the way. How often does that happen? In two days, John's employees, Chris and Edward, worked diligently to get the job done. They must have done more than a few jobs together because, except for the occasional work related banter, they hardly spoke. They would arrive at 8am and leave by 4pm and work for the entire time. If not for the intermittent sound of a power saw, I would scarcely have known they were down there at all. When on the second day their work was done, they packed up and left without me having thanked them for a job well done. If you are reading this Chris and Edward, you did great. Thanks! "Cougar Development did an excellent job creating a living space out of an addition to a home built in 1918. The drywall work was excellent as was the placing of needed electrical outlets and ceiling fan/lighting. Closet space is extremely hard to come by in our neighborhood and Cougar was able to build a 30 sq ft closet that our growing family is able to take advantage of. This room was just a storage space and is now a usable living area after Cougar was done with it. The quality of work for the price I paid was amazing! I have already recommended Cougar to those in my neighborhood and will continue to do so!"

"Exceptional service!  We originally called Steve to ask if he could tell us if a certain wall was load bearing, as we'd never had to make that determination before, and didn't want to risk making a mistake if we took on the project ourselves.  He said he could, and we arranged a time for him to come to our house.  He was prompt, friendly, and professional, and he took a look at the wall (plus another one that we were also considering removing), and let us know that one was safe to remove, while the other wasn't.  We thanked him, and asked how much we owed him for his expert advice.  He said that we didn't owe him anything.  Since that was the only reason he'd come to our house, we were really amazed.  Out of curiosity, we asked him how much he would charge to take down the wall and get it ready for paint.  He said he'd put together a quote and let us know.  We heard back from him the same day with a quote of $1200, and said it would probably take a couple of days to complete the project.  We asked if he had a military discount, and he said he'd see what he could do.  We heard back from him very quickly, and he said he could give us a military rate of $1100.  We decided we were better off hiring him than doing the work ourselves, and made arrangements for him to come out in a week, when he had free space in his schedule.  However, a couple of days later, he called and said that upcoming rain had delayed another project, and he asked if we'd like him to come out earlier.  We said that would be great, and set up a time.  He arrived promptly on time, did the work quickly, kept our home as clean as possible during the project, and cleaned up after himself when he left.  He worked essentially 2 1/2 full days, then came back in the evening on a 3rd day to finish sanding after the mud on the drywall was dry.  His work and professionalism were exceptional.  We also asked him to take a look at an outdoor faucet, which he took apart and then explained which piece was broken and needed replaced.  He was willing to do the work, but explained how we could do it ourselves.  Because he didn't actually repair the faucet, he again refused to charge us for his advice.  The same was true for a couple of other issues in the house--he evaluated them, and told us how to fix them, then refused payment for the advice.  He was certainly willing to do the work; he just wasn't going to act like it was something that wasn't simple for us to do on our own.  We would absolutely hire him again.  He was prompt, honest, set a fair price, and did great work.  He was also an absolute pleasure to do business with.

"I needed my TV stand assembled ASAP because I've had the TV for over a month. I couldn't put it together by someone (I'm handicapped) and I thought about Angie's List late on a Saturday night. Well, I found Gandy's Mechanical Maintenance Services, filled out the form, and chose Gandy's from the list that popped up. I wasn't disappointed. I called them late (too late) and told them what I needed. They were here on Sunday around noon. And what a job they did! I couldn't be happier and of this writing, I already have a minimum of four more projects when we move into our new house. I would estimate we will have at least six more "projects" for Gandy's and I won't think twice for them to do the jobs for me."
