"I would like express my appreciation for the excellent service provided by Meyers Pro Tree Care. Their work strategy and communication throughout the project were outstanding. I was particularly impressed by the promptness of response; I received a contact the same day I requested a quote. Furthermore, the pricing was very fair, and I appreciated that the work began the following day. The project was completed within a week, and the results are wonderful and team was well-organized. I would highly recommend Meyers Pro Tree Care services to anyone in need of tree trimming or exterior maintenance."

"Had two trees that needed to be taken down and stumps removed. Have a large oak tree that needed trimming. Scrappy Creek did all of this quickly and cleaned up the debris when all the trimming and trees were removed. They have great prices, do great work and are very friendly and professional about their work. Highly recommend this firm if you need any tree work done!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

If you aren’t sure what you’re doing, be very careful when cutting mature tree roots (roots larger than 2 inches). Root cutting and pruning can affect both a tree’s stability and its ability to nourish itself. Issues during root cutting can result in damage or injury.

It’s recommended you call in a pro to help, unless it’s a very small tree and you aren’t worried about the prospect of losing the tree.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.

Lightning can cause massive damage, fires, and openings for other threats like bugs or fungal diseases. Barring any large fires or explosions, it’s difficult to tell how much damage a lightning strike has done until after a thorough inspection. Contact local authorities immediately if lightning strikes a tree in your yard and it causes a fire or explosion.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.

Once you confirm a tree is dead, you should remove it. Dead trees eventually fall, and larger trees in particular can cause damage to rooftops, fencing, flowers, and other objects. As we mentioned, letting decayed wood stay in your yard also invites risks to the surrounding landscaping and vegetation.
