"My husband and I hired Clean Community Co to clean our newly purchased home for a deep clean before moving in. Adrien did a fantastic job and left no corner dirty! We requested a deep clean through thumbtack, however, Adrien came out to do a free assessment and then lowered the price due to the severity not being as high as a typical clean. With those savings we were able to add on his carpet cleaning services which made a world of a difference! So thankful that we were able to move our family in to a clean home!"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

It’s a good idea to install a rug pad under the carpet for your stairs. To make the pad fit, you’ll need to cut one section for each stair tread that’s about one inch narrower than the stair runner so that it won’t be visible once the carpet is installed on top.

Carpet is an effective natural insulator, so it will make a room slightly warmer than laminate. The material’s insulating properties also make carpeted rooms more efficient for temperature regulation.

When choosing whether to install carpet in your home, consider the pros and cons of this change:

Pros

  • More affordable than laminate flooring

  • Gives the room a warmer feel

  • Softer on feet

  • Wide variety of textures and colors

  • Hides dirt easily

  • Faster and easier to install

Cons

  • Shows wear and tear more quickly than laminate flooring

  • Shows stains

  • Soaks up liquids

  • May not work well in some areas, such as a bathroom

  • Less durable than laminate flooring

  • Susceptible to water damage, mold, and mildew

There are a couple of color options to consider when installing carpet in high-traffic areas (like entrances and stairways). Medium-toned colors and patterned carpets can work well in these parts of your home because dirt and stains can blend in easily. Dark carpets will also conceal marks and spills, but they show lint and other light-colored debris. Consider a medium brown or tan for your high-traffic areas. Either way, it’s best to avoid paler shades, like white and cream, which get dirty easily.
