"I needed asbestos removed from my kitchen floors, and Mohammad identified that removing the subfloor would be the quickest and best way to do it (which also addressed some water damage in the subfloor). I was quoted a reasonable amount for the work done, and he did the job for that amount and in the timeframe he expected. My kitchen is now asbestos-free and I was able to install a new overlay subfloor and new flooring! Couldn't be happier with the job he did."

Our goal is to help you regain control to make your damage "Like it never even happened." Restoring your home after a flood or fire can feel like an overwhelming task. When your walls are covered in soot or your home is ankle-deep in water, you need a solution - and you need it fast. SERVPRO Professionals can be that solution. We have the expertise, training and equipment to help save you in your time of disaster. 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, the first step to restoring your home is just a telephone call (703) 450-4504

"Called the office Sunday afternoon and they were here Monday morning. They explained the process and interface with insurance clearly and answered my rambling questions. Ended up being a dry out that lasted until the following Saturday. Personnel came every day to check equipment and document progress, making for easy reporting to insurance. Based on this, would be my first call for this part of the restoration process, and my preference to complete rebuild (if they didn't have such a large backlog on that front). Thank you for restoring control of the problem so professionally!"

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

In most cities, it isn’t legal to cover asbestos tile. This is because it’s difficult for the average homeowner to know if they’re causing fibers to become airborne. While there is a method of sealing the asbestos in place—called encapsulation—this needs to be done by a pro, and isn’t appropriate for all situations.

Yes. Gutting a house to the studs may actually be a good option if you believe a home contains toxic materials like asbestos, mold, or lead paint. However, this must be done under the supervision of licensed remediation experts.

It can be safe to live in a house with asbestos as long as the asbestos-containing materials are in good condition and not disturbed. Asbestos is only dangerous when it becomes airborne, which happens if the material is damaged, crumbling, or disturbed during renovation work. If you suspect asbestos is present, it's important not to disturb it and to have it professionally inspected.

In the 1980s, the use of asbestos in house siding materials underwent a significant decline, ultimately being phased out by the mid-1980s to early 1990s. This change was largely due to a growing awareness of the severe health risks associated with asbestos exposure, particularly its link to lung diseases and cancers. With increased public concern and regulatory agency involvement, building codes and regulations were updated to restrict the use of asbestos in construction materials.

Although the use of asbestos has declined since the 1980s, it remains in several different types of building construction materials for insulation and as a fire retardant. Typically, asbestos can be found in materials such as ceiling and floor tiles, heat-resistant fabrics and coatings, and roof shingles. You may also find asbestos in textured paint and patching compounds.
