"Luis and his men did an absolutely excellent job on a tough renovation project where we replaced 28 windows and 4 patio doors. UCC had to patch all the openings and then did a new smooth synthetic stucco finish in a new white color. Great workmanship and easy to work with. Highly recommend UCC! "Stucco Connection fixed a large hole in our stucco near the roof (birds made it in there). Not only did they fix that, but they went around the house and patched up some other cracks and small holes essentially at-cost since they were already on the job. The job took a long time to complete since we called them in January, and we had to wait a couple months for a day warm enough to finish the job. The reason for 4/5 stars was that the communication in this long stretch was not the absolute best it could be. They could improve by calling the customer on a weekly or every 2 week basis to update them on the status."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

Homeowners insurance generally won’t cover stucco damage unless it’s caused by a covered event like a storm or fire. You’ll need to pay out of pocket for damage caused by age, wear and tear, lack of maintenance, or faulty installation. Consult your policy for the specifics of what stucco damage is covered and what isn’t.

Quikrete will set without mixing. The process of pouring dry concrete into your concrete form and then adding water is called dry pouring. While this method makes pouring concrete simpler and easier, it reduces its strength and durability. It can be a viable option for small, decorative concrete pavers for walkways or for setting fence posts, but it’s not ideal for pouring slabs that will bear any significant amount of weight.

A standard drill will work just fine if you’re drilling small holes, and only a few of them. But anything with a diameter larger than 3/8 inch is best done with a hammer drill, since it is stronger, faster, and also makes your drill bits last longer. While you don’t absolutely need a hammer drill for stucco, it is a worthy investment if you think you might drill more holes down the road.

The length of time shouldn’t matter much if you stick with lightweight Christmas lights and similar decorations. Those shouldn’t pose risks to your stucco. You should avoid attaching anything to your stucco that could fall because it’s too heavy, which may take part of the stucco with it. Some methods, like using double-sided tape or adhesive hooks, will naturally wear out over time and lead to falling lights, so don’t expect to leave these lights up year-round.

Neutral colors like white, tan, beige, and light brown are the most popular stucco colors. Natural stucco has a grayish color due to the high concentration of Portland cement in the material, but most homeowners have their contractors add pigments to create a more inviting appearance. Stucco is most popular in hotter climates, where it provides ample insulation to regulate interior temperatures and keep the solar heat out. Since lighter colors reflect more sunlight, lighter stucco is more prevalent.
