"I needed to plumb up and adjust two stone pillars for a historic house built in the 1880s. Along with that, I needed to pull out an old slab of concrete and pour a new ramp that then tied into patio pavers. They did an amazing job at all of it, I absolutely love the work. They fixed and replaced the pillars, pulled out old concrete and poured new, leveled the patio area with pavers and as an added measure of service, they even built new wooden steps replacing some that were deteriorated and falling apart leading up to the porch. They did exceptional work and the price was very fair. I would use Asphalt Masters again for future projects."

Barndos can have the same types of basements as traditional homes, including full or walk-out basements.

Physically, the most challenging part of finishing a basement is installing egress windows or doors when the space is below ground level. Mentally, the hardest part may be envisioning the project and planning around load-bearing and mechanical obstacles.

The average cost of remodeling a basement is $30 to $75 per square foot. If your space is unfinished and looks like it may need more help, use the higher number when calculating your estimated basement remodeling costs. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional 20% to the top of your estimate to cover any “what if” situations.

A walkout basement is considered to be partially below grade because at least one wall is entirely exposed. In some cases and in specific municipalities, inspectors and appraisers will still count walkout basements as below grade, which means the space can’t serve as living space or be rented out.
