"My curtains look and smell wonderful! He did a thorough job. He was very kind and considerate. I asked him to show me the dirt he got out of my curtains, and he did. It was disgusting. So glad they are done!"

"If you ever need someone to diagnose on the spot, this are the guys to call. He even help me diagnose, over the phone, what was wrong with my fridge. He told me how much it would cost to fix it and was extremely helpful. I would hire them again. His repair man came on time the next day, to install the part. I didn't have to buy a new fridge!! That was the best part. I know every home would be a case to case base, but I was happy with the result. Please give this company a try. It is worth to hire them. Comment: I am glad I called this company. The owner gave the different options and asked me to call other companies to compare prices and repairs."

Drapery Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The best way to clean drapes or curtains depends on the fabric. Always check the care tag for instructions before attempting to wash them.

You can typically clean drapes yourself if they are made of durable materials like cotton, cotton blends, polyester, or burlap, which can often be machine-washed. However, some fabrics can be hand-washed.

For delicate materials such as linen, silk, velvet, lace, sateen, or wool, it is best to hire a professional drapery cleaner. These fabrics are often dry-clean only and can be damaged, shrink, or be destroyed by machine washing or using the wrong cleaning solutions.

If the care tag is missing, the drapes are old, thin, brittle, or have existing damage like pulls or tears, it's safest to have them professionally cleaned. A professional will use the correct methods and solutions for a safe, deep cleaning.

If you proactively avoid grime buildup and mold growth, you can clean the shower curtains as needed. However, if you forget to take preventive action, a good rule of thumb is to clean fabric curtains about every three months. And you’ll clean plastic liners and curtains every three to four weeks.

Professionals remove dust, allergens, and stains while preserving fabric integrity and enhancing the appearance of window treatments.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

Yes, professional drape cleaning is often worth the investment. A professional cleaning service can remove accumulated allergens like dust, pollen, and pet dander, which is especially beneficial for households with allergy sufferers or individuals with respiratory issues like asthma. This process also effectively eliminates odors from cooking, pets, and daily life, helping your home look and smell fresh while improving indoor air quality. Furthermore, hiring a professional ensures that the correct cleaning methods are used, preventing damage to the fabric. It is generally recommended to have drapes professionally cleaned every four to five years, with regular light vacuuming in between.
