A thorn bush isn’t likely to do serious damage, but it’ll definitely hurt if you get a thorn or two in your hand or arm. When removing thorn bushes, always wear thick gloves, long sleeves, and safety goggles to protect against thorns and dirt. If dealing with larger bushes or unfamiliar terrain, consider enlisting a helper for assistance.

Armadillos are attracted to water, so a leaky irrigation system or an overwatered lawn can encourage them to move in. They especially like wet areas where they can burrow and loose soil where they can dig for grubs. They are also attracted to dense ground cover, where they can often find food sources.

To remove a shrub, start by cutting back the shrub using pruning shears, loppers, or a chainsaw. Next, dig around the base of the shrub with a pointed shovel to expose its root system. Then, use a shovel or a mattock to loosen the roots, making it easier to pull or lift the shrub from the ground. For larger shrubs or stubborn root systems, attaching a chain or strap to the base and using a vehicle to pull it out can be effective. Don’t pick up dirt after aerating. Even though it's tempting because soil cores are incredibly unsightly, these cores and the dirt they leave behind are ecologically important. This is what keeps your grass looking beautiful and growing healthily. The soil cores need two to three weeks to decompose, but you can swat them with a rake if their natural shape bothers you.
